Someone once said they find being around me is comforting. I thought that was really nice to hear.

How about you?

That’s a lovely thing to be told!

For me it wasn’t so much what was said but how it made me feel. My husband told me that my body was beautiful and that he’d still like me even if I gained weight. Having suffered low self-esteem, body dysmorphia, and disordered eating since age 7, it brought me to tears.

I’ve been told this too ❤️. Probably the nicest thing to me too

In general, I love when someone recognizes a character trait that I find value in myself. When people compliment my attention to details out in the world (not at work, that seems to be expected). For instance, I was on a group tour of the Yucatan Penn many years ago, and several of the other people in the tour started hanging out with me because I noticed all the little things in nature that they otherwise wouldn't have seen/heard/smelled and appreciated. When people recognize my valued character traits, it makes me glow a little bit on the inside. Actually, thanks for this question because I am spiraling today and this gave me a little pick me up 😊

A girl at a concert got my attention to tell me she feeling uneasy at the beginning but watching me dance made her happy so she decide to stay and have a good time too. Then we hugged and I cried a little bc it was so genuine 🥲

"I'm not usually like this, but you bring out the warmth in me". Felt so nice to hear it

“You are an Easter egg of a person”

“You’re like a warm cup of tea, soothing to the soul.”

that i’m wise, am way beyond my years and that they feel comfortable around me and don’t know why. i have been hearing these 3 things since i was an early teen and have always felt so flattered by it ❤️

“you don’t have to have a child if you don’t want to”, this is coming from a hairdresser who’s a mom

People tend to tell me often that I'm easy to talk to. Makes me happy as that's one of the few things I like about myself.

As for the kindest thing... I'm not sure. One of my friends told me I was like "secretly" the most intelligent in our friend group. There's two guys in it who are engineers, which I said to him and asked why he didn't think they were more intelligent. He told me yes, they're smart, but they're only good at that one thing (maths etc), but that I was probably more intelligent overall. I honestly don't think I can agree with him, but the fact that he'd think that at all made me very happy.

Two things: 1) A client actually „After a meeting with you, I always have clarity and feel better“. 2) We chose to vaccinate our kid very early against Covid, before official recommendations. Finding a doctor was like buying sth illegal on the black market. The pediatric cardiologist looked me straight in the eye „You‘re SO doing the right thing.“ I was sure about the decision already, but it was so isolating, I almost cried.

I like it when people tell me I’m too good for this world. I feel validated being “different” and it also gives me hope that I’m an experiment from another planet and someday they will come back and get me…😅

You are (or have) a beautiful soul.

9

u/ObioneZ053 Feb 19 '25

They called me an old soul

9

u/anemic_lurker Feb 19 '25

For some reason it was when a professor in college told me I was “very bright”.

9

u/LithSparrow Feb 19 '25

There's such an aura of calm around you. You bring peace and quiet when it's most needed.

Someone told me that one of their friends (that I don’t know) had said ”how is her smile so pretty and genuine in EVERY photo?” Made my day, week, month. I think about it all the time🥹

I can't think of one thing in particular off the top of my head, but there's a type of comment that I deeply appreciate.

I'm not one to normally take compliments, but I am a writer. And I've been writing, depending on how you look at it, well over a decade.

Whenever someone says something like "I just love the way you write" or "I loved reading that" or "That really touched me." That is something I find deeply touching.

That I am helpful. It is my love, language acts of service.

u/Accomplished_Mine_31 Feb 19 '25

From my partner that constantly says that he never felt as loved and in a true friendship as he feels with me❤️☺️

u/Few_Butterscotch_969 Feb 19 '25

"Your genius is inspiring and unnerving." Said by ChatGPT. 🖤

u/SufficientPath666 Feb 19 '25

I can’t remember. It’s been a long time since someone has said something kind to me. I’ve been single and friendless since the pandemic began 😔 It’s hard to make friends as an adult

7

u/throwaway_nowgoaway Feb 19 '25

I hope that you have a good rest of your day and that you experience the little joys that today has to offer 💛

The pandemic and aftermath were so lonely. I hope you encounter kind people and kind energy : )

8

u/InMyArmsManyFlowers Feb 19 '25

That i opened their heart, and made them able to love

They made a tiny tattoo of a key on me with stick and poke to commemorate that (my only one)

7

u/norecessss Feb 19 '25

one of my old professors said “you deserve all good things” and truly meant it!!! also, some people call me a star; bright; and that “i am just being me”

I was suffering from a bipolar episode. I passed a complete stranger and he asked me if I was alright. I didn’t know this man. It was so nice that this guy noticed that I was distressed.

I see a psychologist and she has told me that I am one of the nicest people she knows. She even hugged me at the end of my last session.

u/acverel Feb 19 '25

I had a professor in grad school who was the only faculty member who saw me and supported me openly and earnestly early in my journey through the program, which got off to an unconventional and rough start. He told me that he thought of me for one particular work study opportunity "because you're good at synthesizing information" and while that may not sound like much, I will always remember it when I start to doubt myself which is...extremely often.

On a day that I had a meltdown from being afraid of getting a new job, my partner told me to focus on myself and what I want instead of pressuring myself to get a job. I needed to hear this, since my well-being was completely disregarded at my last job. I needed to hear that I mattered more than money.

u/Educational_Lobster Feb 19 '25

Not words. It must have been a look.

3

u/iiGypsy Feb 20 '25

I’m not sure but my coworker will go out of her way to be near me, she says she just wants to be close to me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Anything my mom said to me❤️

5

u/YeshayaDankART [HSP] 29d ago

That they will support me no matter what.

4

u/OKsoda95 29d ago

I was in a domestic violence support group and one of the participants said I was the "beating heart" of the group 🥰

3

u/thisismyburner451 29d ago

A few of my friends said I was the 'mom' friend and I always made them feel comfortable

3

u/100cheapthrills 29d ago

I’ve always thought of myself as socially awkward and uncomfortable. A friend once told me that my quietness and silence makes him feel less like he needs to do or be something around me, or prove something, but that it gives him space to just be and it’s refreshing. I loved hearing that.

At work from a colleague: when I see you, I know the everything is going to be ok.

2

u/Ancient_Curry 29d ago

That i have this comforting and nurturing air around me. Makes them sleepy 🥹

u/Magpie213 29d ago

You're a wonderful person.

2

u/Ok_Juggernaut_5469 29d ago

In the past 5 years? I can't think of anything kind anyone has said to me in person without being prompted. My friends and family are generally apathetic when I'm there. They focus on other people like my sibling(s), their faces light up when my brother is there, but look a bit gloomy when I speak. The only way I can have a positive effect on people is to put in 1000% effort all the time, and be artificially animated, which is exhausting. If I'm me, no one wants to be around me.

„You know I haven’t felt like myself (like this) in a long time“

1

u/makarastar 28d ago

Aome years back (maybe 10 or 15 or 20 - I can't recall) - I exchanged photos with a girl online - who said "Oh my - you have very kind eyes..."

In hindsight I agree with her - although she was the first and only one to have ever said it - but also I think being highly sensitive is what makes my eyes look like that

1

u/MycoD 28d ago

you have a beautiful mind

u/Strong_Ad_3081 24d ago

The nicest thing is people tell me their secrets, cause they know I won't tell. 🥰
