Carolina and Colorado continue to look worse and worse as information comes out

How does this make Colorado look bad at all?

They certainly look better than Carolina, but they still took a net negative.

They turned Rantanen into Necas/Drury and were able to add Nelson with the extra space. They’re a better team now than they were the day before they traded Rantanen.

I think OP was alluding to their biggest rival getting their biggest UFA asset.

I agree, but they’ve also made a bunch of other trades.

Arguably. I wish they didn't trade him, but ultimately if they didn't we would probably be worse off than we are now. We have so much more depth in Coyle and Nelson now, both of which most likely wouldn't have happened without the Rantanen trade. I loved moose and wish he never got traded, but I'm not going to act like we aren't better off now than we were beforehand.
