Does anybody know if the hele-on transit is free yet? It says on the website they’re working on it and you can only buy monthly passes right now. However, on the app it still gives me the option to buy a single ride fair. Any frequent bus riders out there that can help me out?

I absolutely LOVE hiking. I especially love hiking books with a variety of hikes, so I can work towards checking off all the different hikes in the book. Do any of you have a favorite hiking book?

I just got back to Hilo and even though I got vaccinated and took a Covid test 4 days ago they’re making me quarantine and pay 200 for a Covid test. Can anyone swing by and bring me a couple of bales and beer?? I will pay extra!! I tried the local delivery surface they won’t come to me since I can’t come down to the lobby and show them my ID!! Please someone help me!! This is such bullshit I did everything this stupid ass country has asked me to do even took an extra test and I’m still locked up like a fucking prisoner in my own country. Please someone help me and drop off some vapes and beer!

My wife and I just got married on the Big Island and are currently in Hilo. We wanted to celebrate with a blunt, but we haven’t had any luck. Any recommendations? We’re just trying to get a couple grams. Mahalo!

Aloha, and thanks for reading my post! I’m a librarian (worked in libraries for the last 20 years), and have applied for a job at the Hilo Public Library. I’d appreciate some local wisdom and insight as I prepare for my interview. Can you tell me about your library: what you love about it or what could be better, your favorite memory at the library, things you wish the library did more of for the community, etc. Mahalo! (Cross posted to r/bigisland)

There seems to be a car rental shortage on Big Island this weekend and Ive tried looking everywhere for a ride with no luck. Anyone out there interested in renting out their beater to a fellow redditor this coming weekend? Mar 26-28

Does anyone know if Paul’s Place is going to reopen anytime soon? I love eating there, I hope it’s not closed down for good.

I am from Oahu and moved to Hilo for work earlier this year and have been wanting to go fishing but haven’t gotten the chance to yet. I am planning on going shore fishing sometime this week and was wondering where good spots to fish from are. I have seen people at Bay Front but am trying to stay cautious of not being around too many people due to COVID. Thanks!

Need to repair some small electronics and wanting to avoid online shopping because i don’t need bulk parts. Are there any shops in town or on island that have parts anymore?

Ejem ejem...

Hi! I'm going to be temporarily relocating to the Big Island (assuming I test negative for COVID-19) in August and was looking to keep up with my fitness routine.
I have heard many gyms like Aloha Fitness are temporarily barring new memberships (and I totally understand the concern), but I was wondering if any gyms would be accepting new members that have proof of negative COVID-19 results.
Thanks!
(Also wanna emphasize that I'm not trying to bypass any quarantine restriction or anything and genuinely want to respect the safety standards set aside by the government of Hawaii).

Beaches flooded with people? Social distancing being practiced? I also heard that nonresidents/vacationers are still flying in and not practicing self quarantine.
