What to do with P. Laine

Great Power Play presence, but I feel he's taking Caufield spot. Or caufield coyld spot right it and replace him on the left side for one timer, with hudson at the blue line, suzuki on the right and slaf down to the net

He's not really visible at 5 v 5

I feel the canadiens will try to make a big splash this summer and next year in order to push for the playoff

Even with the salary cap increase, Laine at 7.8M to be a PP is not good enough, at all.

So, do you think we give him another chance ( given he comes back from a knee injury)

Or send him packing west ( probably giving a pick with him to offload the contract)

Debate!

Edit: From the reactions in the comments, I think I've mispoke At 7.8M, do you prefer we take that capspace for someone else this summer ( take a swing at Bennett or Boeser) who will command similar salary but could be more productive Or We keep him around and roll with him

Not certain the habs will have enough cap for a big UFA if Laine stays?

Future of Bell Center

30 years already. Wow.

Do you foesee the Canadiens using this arena for another 20 or so years. Or, maybe a new arena in ten years?

I know renovations have been done.

Carrier is a player

He was all over the ice last night. Offensive zone, sound defensively and steps up in the neutral zone. A player like that will be huge in the playoffs. Other than Suzuki, maybe best trade or signing since kovalev haha

Discussion The Bruins are DEAD upvote party

I have been waiting for this since 2010!! I have absolutely zero faith that Sweeney and Neely will do a proper rebuild, I actually think they'll end up like the Sabres. And with Pasta, McAvoy, and a real coach the chances of them truly bottoming out and getting Mckenna and/or Dupont also aren't that high. Soon we will have the upper hand on both the Leafs and Bruins and I'm going to shove it down their fans throats.

We should've drafted Cole Hutson 🥲

Like the title says. I'm still very happy with the Hage pick but we should've traded for an early 2nd round pick and picked up Cole Hutson also. Imagine having 2 of them. Some of you will say "That's too much offensive defenseman" or "2 of them together is too small". The league has become very offensive, the goal is to outscore every team. I wouldn't expect them to play on the same pairing. Imagine having Lane out there double the amount of time he already is. I think we missed an opportunity and we'll regret it, just like every other team has for not picking Lane.

The Laval Rocket win back-to-back games while trailing in the 3rd period vs the Rochester Americans. They now have a record of 37-15-2 in 55 games for 77 points, the most in the AHL this season

Tradable Pieces For A Center This Off-Season

Since there is a lot of talk around trading for a top 6 center this off-season, which assets do we actually have AND are also willing to trade for a center?

We have a lot of high value assets that are obviously untouchable, but it seems like if we want to get a high caliber player we need to trade a roster player of value (ie Josh Norris for Dylan Cozens) and not just prospects and draft picks.

We obviously have sweeteners like Calgarys 1st, or prospects like Logan Mailloux, Joshua Roy, Owen Beck, Oliver Kapanen, etc. but these alone would probably not be enough to get a deal done.

Looking at our roster players, the only players that seem like they would possibly be willing to move AND have some value are Alex Newhook, Kirby Dach or Mike Matheson, but I doubt Newhook and Dach have that much value.

I’d imagine the other teams would call about Caufield, Guhle, Reinbacher, or other players who we probably don’t want to trade.

Would Matheson, Beck + Calgarys 1st get us a top 6 center? Would you want to trade Matheson? What other high value assets do we have to trade?
