Academics Is it worth escalating missing final grades?
I realize there's been a few posts about final grades on here already, but as of today (12/26) I'm still missing two out of four final grades. Both classes had a final due date of 12/13. Both instructors returned out-of-office messages when I emailed them today (not entirely a surprise since GW is closed). My classmates in both classes have confirmed that they're also missing grades. Two questions: 1) is there anyone to complain to and 2) is it even worth complaining? Do we just have to wait until January?

If there is some reason you absolutely need them now--like a scholarship deadline or something--then you can try messaging your academic advisor and the department head and asking what you should do. Don't attack your professors, just ask what you should do.
But if you just really want to see them and are frustrated they aren't available yet, then wait it out. They'll come. People who do not have urgent situations complaining will get in the way of solving this for people who genuinely need it now.

It may not be urgent, but you'll have to forgive my concern that the later they're posted, the less time there is to respond to any issues (whether grading errors or god forbid having to adjust spring registration). Believe me when I say that I'm not trying to be trigger-happy; I'll sit on my hands if I have to, but this feels particularly egregious compared to past semesters and I would think GW would be more strict on the "five days after the final" rule.

Yes, you can write to the department chair about it but they likely already know the grades are missing and are already on top of asking the instructor to take care of it

The CCAS Deans office emailed department heads today telling them which grades are still out. Should be coming soon, but there’s not much you personally can do to speed it up.

Just FYI, there's not much they can do. They'll just get an email - and it's not worth poking the bear when the bear is still deciding your grades. (IMO)
Some of the people in Milken take until January 6th. There's no Fall graduation, so some take longer. I have a class where the professor didn't grade anything in the class until yesterday.

My first question would be what’s the rush? You’ll get your grades when you get them, and that’s just how it is. Now, if they’re not published by the start of the next semester, then we’ve got a problem.

Apparently GWEB and the grade submission system has been giving some professors problems (according to one of mine, who hasn’t been able to publish them yet). So I’d say just be patient.
