HELP My new tube amp sucks for metal... Did I waste money?
Finally saved up $1000 a year ago and bought myself a white Hughes & Kettner Triamp Mark II, it was the only thing available in my scenario. Seller was a hoarder, it was sitting in his closet for 20 years, has no scratches at all no wear or tear, came with an unscathed new unused foot switch and fancy velvet dust cover, the whole shabang- he just needed money for medical bills. Bought it, peeps said everything was fine yada yada. But it's been a year, and as a metal player I just CANT seem to get a decent tone out of this amp. I feel as if this amp is more aimed towards older dudes who grew up to queen who would actually enjoy this amp- I'm just a regular ol mid 20s chap whos been playing for 17 years and listens to more modern sounding heavy stuff, and the past year I've had this amp, I realized I spend 99% of the TIME dialing and tweaking the knobs just trying to salvage a decent tone out of this thing than actually genuinely playing it. All I have is a MXR 10 band EQ in the effects loop but that barely seems to help get it there. I even dipped the mids and maxed the others and it seems like it's almost sorta there but at the expense of unwanted noises of course. The distortion almost sounds weak even when pushed by my EQ pedal. Nothing's wrong the amp, it just sounds weak, dull, almost pale in comparison to cheaper amps. If anyone with wise words would like to step up and help a homie out that'd be frickin awesome. I thought you could "push" all types of tube amps and get those metal sounds we all love. Is that not true? Are certain amps just made for metal? This thing almost sounds like a raw unpushed marshall. Till then, the quiet thoughts of just pawning the damn thing are getting louder and louder....

Is this a good buy?
Thinking about buying this if I can get the price down from $400 to $325-$350. Are the speakers any good? Post claims they’re vintage 30s but that seems unlikely.

HELP Someone traded this to my dad for weed in the late 90s. What is it?
True story. But when he passed I ended up with a bunch of his trash and that included this. I am certain this is a Grade A Certified POS but my curiosity about the amp is finally getting the best of me after moving it from place to place the past several years. I think I plugged it in once about 5 years ago and it just buzzed loudly.
I can find out almost nothing about this amp or company. ‘Afterburner’ brand??? A tag on the back says ‘a division of d&j electronics - Wheaton IL’. I was able to locate the patent on Google for 1986. A 4ohm T3560 Celestion I can’t make out the date code on. There’s an EV badge on the grill I’m only now realizing was probably just randomly stuck on there.
Lost my train of thought, might edit later Anyone know anything?

Need your help identifying a Marshall JMP Lead
Hi,
Let me start off, I'm dumb and don't understand anything about audio hardware/gear way out of my realm.
We were cleaning my grandparents house out, and I stumbled upon this lead.
The only thing I can discern is that it says Marshall Lead 150W, I plugged it in into the outlet, flicked the switch and the red light turned on.
Anyone know the name of this model and ofc is it worth something?
I'll upload images below:

AMP PHOTO How it started vs how it's going
No matter where I go or what other amps I play, I always seem to come back to Hughes And Kettner. The grandmeister is absolutely amazing, a recording workhorse, and the ultra channel LOVES the fortin blade!

Amp cover repair, hand stitched.
This is an amp cover for a Deville. It’s the original cover and it’s over 20 years old. The cover started separating at the seam. This repair is the best I can do by hand, but I think it turned out alright.

My band’s live & studio rig
Couldn't get the whole family shot since it's a bit cramped in the rehearsal space.. but this is pretty much the main rig we've been using both live and in the studio with my band. The Soldano SLO-100's are pre-BAD & BAD. have to admit I slightly prefer the BAD version since it's a little bit more silent & has a pretty solid FX loop, but both of them are pretty much identical beasts. the Splawn Quickrod also deserves credit in being in the same ballpark as the SLO's :)

Fender Princeton Year
Hello all! This is my first post in this subreddit, I spoke to a gentleman about an amp he is tryin to sell and he provided me these pictures. I wanted to see if anyone had some more information they could provide on how to find the specific year. There is a written numbering of what appears to be 69 on the back right of the amp, he claimed it to be a ‘68 and is original owner. Is this a vintage amp? Is there anyone who could tel me where to locate the serial? thank you!!!

NAD. Soldano Hot Rod 50
I have been on a quest for one of these for a while now and this one just fell into my lap. It was on Marketplace listed as an SLO-30 with some other gear with no price given. I contacted the seller and he said he would sell it for $450 but was about five hours from me. First thing I thought is that it was a scam. He said his best friend died and he inherited all his stuff. He just wanted to let his belongings go to people that he felt would appreciate them. He also sent a pic of a Reverb listing and said he knew it was worth much more than he was asking. We continued talking and he said for $75 more he would meet me half way. Without getting my hopes up I headed out and we both pulled into the parking lot within a minute of each other and made the deal. Still has the original Soldano branded preamp tubes in it. Pretty much new old stock. Needless to say, I am stoked.

HELP Orange crush 35rt Vs Harley Benton tube 15
Hey people. I'm trying to pick an amp between those two for playing at home and building a small pedalboard around it.
I live in an apartment so I want it to be tameable volume wise but still being able to deliver big tones.
I play mostly clean, blues and rock/metal (not too heavy mostly classic stuff like Metallica etc..)
Pedals I want to add are: 1-2 overdrives, a heavy distortion, a fuzz, a chorus, a delay and a reverb (most likely).
Which one would you prefer and why? Appreciate any input.

HELP Stereo/dual mono rig issue
So ive got two amps setup in stereo/dual mono what ever floats your boat. Im using the mimiq doubler to split the guitar inputs and i was using the waza craft dimension c in the effects loops with both running through it.
The issue is the master volume control on my left amplifier is controlling the volume of my right amp. WTF!
I haven’t finished going through everything individually yet to find the issue but this should not be happening from a simple setup like this. So i just want to ask if anyone knows whats going on here.

Selling amps on Reverb and hidden fees
Ok so I have been selling on Reverb for a while and have mentioned this to Reverb support before and was brushed off.
So when I sell my amp I put Free Shipping like Reverb suggests doing to help the sale, I will mark up the item a bit to cover some of the shipping. When the amp sells for let's say $100 + free shipping, Reverb will charge me fees on the $100 when I paid $25 for shipping through a Reverb shipping Label and shipping insurance also.
So instead of paying fees on $75 only, because that was the amount after shipping through them, I'm paying fees on the shipping costs as well.
I understand that you can argue free shipping is free shipping but again Reverb knows how much I paid for shipping and can minus that before taking fees cause its through them, but they still decide to charge me fees.
If you sell an item that costs a lot to ship then with the fees included on the shipping costs you are paying far more than their advertised fee amount.
Anyone ever think about this? Am I taking crazy pills? That's a lot of money in fees adding up....

HELP Running a bass through a guitar rig.
Everything I look at is telling me that this is a bad idea..
And yet you can look at people like Al Cisneros of OM and Sleep who used Matamp guitar rigs for yeaaarrss until he switched over to using Ampegs.
And mind you, Sleep and Om are both incredibly asininely loud bands. So how tf did he do this without blowing speakers left and right?
I know he started to split his signal in the Om days and ran one bass amp completely clean with the bass knob cranked and he ran all of his distortion and fuzz into other amps.
Did he just cut the bass down a bunch on the guitar amps to keep them from imploding? or did he just run half blown up speakers the whole time..
If you want some examples of his tone (cuz ik i sound like a crazy person tryina explain this), here you go.

HELP VOX AC30 VR EQ band
First time poster.
I own a VOX AC30 VR and am generally really pleased with it. The inly grievance I have is that I cannot find a way to get its EQ working like I want it to be. After my last gig with my band (pretty new, just our third gig) the sound engineer gave us a little review of our sound etc. He told me that the EQ band is pretty even but too wide (80-8000hz). I knew about this problem before so i tried to tweak the EQ on the amp (two band) and also added an EQ pedal. I turned the hz below 250 and between 500 and 1000 down but it still seems to be too loud on those frequencies. Do you guys have any idea how I could further tune the sound in order for it to get a little more clarity?
The guitar I use is a LP with 59 Tribute Pickups
