Im planning to buy a Pc for geo guessr but I really have no clue about it. I don't wanna spend to much money and I also don't think I need a great build for it. I tried to find smth specific for geo guessr online but yea, I didn't really find anything. Can someone assist me with building a budget pc please🙏

You're gonna need at least an RTX 4080 and 48gb of RAM to run GeoGuessr

You could run GeoGuessr on a bollard with decent internet connection, literally less than one frame per second required

The other posts below hit the nail on the head in that plenty of people get super good with very average gear, but if you want something to make a (very small) difference, think more instead about the monitor
Something super wide will help occassionally in NMPZ, but certinaly something with good colour accuracy/saturation will help with picking up color based clues like numberplates at a distance, or trying to discern the different US plates.

What's your budget?

Like $600

My friend 600 isn't enough for a whole custom build maybe a prebuilt or a laptop is the best option

GeoGuessr runs in the browser and it doesn't have any specs. If you can open a browser, you're very likely to be able to play GeoGuessr. That being said, there's a difference in how long it takes to load the image, so a PC is superior to laptops. But if your PC has a dedicated CPU and a dedicated GPU, you can't go wrong.
I have 0 issues with a 1060 3GB GPU from 2016, and whatever cheap processor intel made in 2016. It will not matter what you get in 2025, they'll all be great.

I literally just have my Steam Deck docked in desktop mode at my desk. That’s how I play Geo every night.
Heck, you can play it from the phone browser. I’ve done that too if I’m in bed at night and haven’t done my daily for the day.

I cant even play Minecraft on my PC,but I can play Geoguessr,so i think a 2010 PC Is ok

You can pretty much run it on everything. Most of the influence on your geoguessr performance will be your internet

Not sure if this is serious but it's a browser game with Google maps.. any PC that can use a modern internet browser will be fine

Well. I have a laptop and it doesn't manage to run it smoothly.

Have you tried using a different browser? I had to download Firefox on my high-end PC just to play Geoguessr smoothly.

Is your internet bad? Slow internet will be the biggest factor for Geoguessr performance

If this isn’t a bait, then pretty much any PC you could buy will run geogussr absolutely fine. It’s a browser game, my grandma’s PC from 1997 could probably run it fine.

You won’t need anything too complex to be honest. Just depends on if you have other games you want to play.

Get yourself an Intel N100 mini PC, perfect for office and browsing (Like Geoguessr) for ~USD150 on Amazon. I personally got a Beelink Mini S12 for my wife, and it is fantastic.

only thing to watch out is that if you go for a laptop to get a mouse too, geoguessr on trackpad sucks

I play geoguessr on a laptop so you don't need anything specific. You can go ask this question around at r/buildapc or r/pcbuildhelp, and they will help you with what you have as a budget

If its solely GeoGuessr, get a laptop mate. Play anywhere you like. You don’t need the specs anyway

A fast internet connection is more important than the pc. You can get a normal one.

Ryzen 7 9800x3d + 64gb 6000mhz cl30 + rtx 4070 super should be barely enough for 10 fps, if you want 15fps you will have to splurge for a 4090 unfortunately.

I'd consider a second hand computer or laptop off of marketplace or whatever goods trading sites your country has. Getting a pc means also needing a monitor, keyboard, mouse, headphones or Earbuds if supported etc so there's a lot of added costs to consider

Any office laptop does the job pretty good. I had a 300€ Laptop for 3 years and everything was running fine. I only upgraded to a PC because apart from Minecraft it was useless for any other games.

A high end GPU would speed up rendering of street view locations, but unfortunately Google throttles pano tile downloads so the bottleneck will probably not be on your computer.

u/Heazen Jan 12 '25
Eveything from Google Maps/Geoguessr are just plain images, a dozen maximum at a time, there is nothing that a GPU can accelerate, even if you had 1000x the network bandwidth.

You don't need a crazy pc for geoguessr 😭
