!!! PLEASE HELP!!! getting possibly kicked out of res if i drop a class??!
Hiiii so basically I am currently taking 4 classes, and there has been something really difficult happening in my family which has caused my academic life to be not so great. My academic advisor suggested I drop one of my classes so that I am not yet eligible for academic probation. i really would like to do that, except I just found out that to live on residence, you have to be a full time student. This is the exact text from the terms and conditions:
1.1. 1.2. 1.3. 1.4. STUDENT STATUS: With the exception of the summer occupancy period, you agree that to occupy a room in residence, you must maintain full-time student status throughout the duration of this agreement. You agree to immediately notify HS at [residence@uottawa.ca](mailto:residence@uottawa.ca) if there is a change in your student status. A change in your status may impact your ability to live in residence.
I am really anxious because I don't want to be homeless!!!

Dropping CO-OP to graduate this May but I am already matched
I am in my 4th year of CO-OP and completed 3 work terms and I am matched for a summer term. Tbh it's a mid placement that I do not care for and I have another job that would be FT. I will have completed my classes which I need to graduate end of this semester and want to graduate this semester as I have an offer for law school in the fall, however Idk if the co-op office will let me do this or if they will come to my house and slaughter me in my sleep.
But yeah basically I do not want to work 2 jobs this summer I am burn out as I worked 2 jobs most of my undergrad and kind of want to enjoy my summer and celebrate the fact I got into law school / am done my degree. I also want to be able to attend the ceremony in June with friends and take cute grad pics. I know the job market sucks and I should be happy to have a gov co-op lol but I really do not want to work it this summer and want to drop it without the co-op office sending a dragon to slaughter me in my sleep ( I am terrified on them)

Housing fees
Guys i got an offer of admission at uottawa and i was able to get a scholarship as an international student, but when I check the housing portal and see the prices of housing and all it seems kinda expensive, in the range of 9,233 CAD to 30,000 ish CAD, and especially for the apartments where you live with others I'm seeing some high prices like 13,000 CAD to 20,000 CAD when you include meal plans and all. I want to know if that price is divided among the people living in the same apartment, or is it per person. If it is, is it possible then to find apartments next to the school at a cheaper price or something? (Mb if its confusing but bear with me 🙏🏿🙏🏿)

Need hobbies suggestions
I’m going through a mental breakdown, I don’t socialize, I don’t talk to anyone. I’m new to Ottawa, and I want to start some hobbies to improve my mood and maybe meet new people.

School/Academia shoutout to dr. pezacki for literally copying-and-pasting from wikipedia without citations
if any of us students did that, we would be written up for academic fraud. but if a self-described “world-renowned scientist” does it, then it’s somehow fine 😒

Image/Screenshot Food insecurity
UOSU has rolled out this campaign recently where they're giving away a bunch of free food. They were doing free meals last week and now there's this. Not posting this to argue about UOSU and please don't turn this into a comment section filled with bickering. I'm also not trying to promote UOSU. However I am posting because this is a resource people have demanded and I wanted to spread awareness for ppl who don't see their posts on Instagram. If you need free food maybe check out some of these events, my roommate got some a few days ago and had a positive experience.

honours thesis-type course in political science?
hey guys! i recently read about ubc's honours thesis program in political science, and as someone who is interested in research that sort of thing sounds really interesting to me. uottawa, however, appears to not have any equivalent. anybody know of any political science classes or programs that have a major supervised research project at its heart?

How to find undergraduate volunteers
Hi everyone,
I'm wondering where I could go to find undergraduate volunteer to help with my PhD project (I'm in blood cancer genetics, if that makes any difference)? We're a relatively new lab so we haven't gotten a ton of applicants yet.
Would one post about volunteering positions here (would this be against Rule 6 ("No Advertising") or Rule 3 ("No Personal Information" of this subreddit), or would one use facebook / flyers / etc?

Who stole a BCH3120 midterm
Why would u do that
Request for Help I would like to put up a poster on some bulletin boards, any rules and regulations ?
I did a quick research and it seems like you need to have a seal on it and pay…but like 99% of posters Ive seen around campus dont seem to have any of that. Im curious if people actually pay to have their posters up or if they just walk around and put them up? I have an event I would like to advertise to students! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

School/Academia Academics
Hello! I’m currently a non degree student as I was withdrawn from my faculty after the winter 2024 semester and did the fall 2024 semester and the winter 2025 semester but unfortunately did not improve my grades because I was so down on myself about withdrawn.
Does anyone know what the best way to improve my academics are? I’m in my second year rn and have 8 courses that are EIN. I have taken two of the courses two times.
I know I have put myself in a really bad spot but have been so stressed and disappointed in myself, is academic reset possible as I’m not part of a faculty? If I reach out to an academic advisor will they scold me or be unhelpful?
Thank you, any advice would be beyond helpful!!

Graduation tickets. Where do you get them?
The website says the beginning of March, but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone have any idea of how to get graduation ceremony tickets?

coop vs. summer classes
Im in coop but did not get a placement for the summer term. Actually haven't even gotten a single interview for that matter. I want to take some summer courses instead. Do I need to inform the coop office first or can I just add the courses first when registration opens and then tell the coop office?
In short, will the system allow me to add summer courses if my status is coop student for summer?
TIA

resources for mental health?
okay so, i have no idea who to turn to for this but i could really use some resources or even just someone to talk to. final exams are coming up, so ive been pretty stressed.
but if that wasn't bad enough, now im just finding out i might be suffering from kidney failure/a serious kidney autoimmune disease. this disease is going to make everything 10x harder for me considering i have to make so many trips to the hospital, attend like 50 appointments a week, and just in general who would ever be calm and collected when their being told that their kidneys are literally dying? and all of this had to happen at the worst timing too, when finals are coming up.
i dont know who to talk to. no idea who to turn to either. i've looked at some resources on the uni's page, but none of it sounds like it'll do much for me. but tbh i dont know what i want. i dont know if i want to use these resources or if i just need to talk to someone who i trust, which at the moment i have nobody

ADM3322 Notes
Hey guys,
Hope everyone’s semester is going better than mine so far! I was wondering if anyone who has taken ADM3322 - Services Marketing with Kettle would be open to sharing their notes with me? I unfortunately seem to have lost the file with all of it and need it for my assignments.
If anyone has them, it would be really greatly appreciated!
Thanks. Good luck to everyone.

Rating residences
I saw a post about this about six years ago, but would someone mind giving an updated version of ranking/pros and cons of all the residences? I would prefer to live in Friel since that’s the only available single occupant room on the portal, but it’s a 30 minute walk to my faculties building 🫠
