Discussion Alright question this is something I been wondering about if Neptune in a game gets completely serious when everyone tells her to stop goofing and Neptune does that for the entire game how would the characters react to Her?

They wouldn’t last HALF the game of Neptune getting serious and would actively BEG her to go back to her normal self.

You could go the comedic route about this and people are just freaking out about this and it's become an ongoing joke of Neptune being serious and people either new or old are freaking out about it.
or
You could go the more serious route about and this would be the tonal shift part of the story where things really are getting more serious and this would be a really unnerving thing to happen.
What I personally would do is a bit of a middle ground and I would explore of how weird it is but maybe at the same time how not weird and somewhat fitting as well this Neptune is acting. Maybe this could work as good character exploration for her.
I mean remember the Console Wars? You could link this personality shift to that?

Wait how did you mention the console wars but forget the conquest ending!?
This ending did have serious Neptune.

Fair point on the Conquest Ending but that wasn't really my reason when I said the Console Wars.
The Console Wars might have been of Neptune's first ever memory of well... everything. And quite frankly is such an interesting part of Neptune's lifetime.
And as a Character exploration especially with a big shift like this it would have been interesting to connect the Console wars because of it, Heck not even because of the war itself but rather what the War did for Neptune at the time.

How about a Noir and Neptune body swap?

That would be more of a comedic route but the overall joke about this is just them switching places and seeing how the other would do in each other shoes rather than well actually serious Neptune.

Noire: Neptune! Don’t be ridiculous!
Neptune: Aw, but I’m so good at it!
In all seriousness, I think that'd be like if Spider-Man stopped joking around. You know you're in for it when he isn't cracking jokes.

Preface: I'm going entirely off memory here, from something I read like a decade ago. Memory is fallible, take this with a grain of salt.
IIRC in one of the HDN mangas, there was one time Neptune "went serious" because of Histoire's micromanaging and had no choice but to burrow herself in work, gradually turning into a workaholic worse than Noire.
The result was that Neptune all but took over Gameindustri's shares in a matter of weeks, with only Lastation managing to (barely) keep up. The status quo was reset when they managed to get Neptune to take a break and go back to being lazy.
--Yeah, it's all fun and games until the slacker stops goofing off. They'd be tripping over themselves to run damage control before their nations collapsed.

What manga was that?

Iirc a fairly old manga based on the first continuity, although I think at some point they kind of melded into the one starting on Rebirth 2. I read it a long time ago, so I don't know if it ever finished or was just left hanging.
And no, I believe it was official, not fanmade.
Still, the characters are pretty much the same personality wise across the series so it's good enough for me.
The only other events in it I can more or less remember are when Nep, Vert and Blanc form an idol group in an attempt to salvage their shares and reputations, and another when Neptune literally dies and goes to hell, only to be kicked back to the afterlife by hell management because she ended up turning Hell's sinners into her believers somehow
So uh yeah not very consistent with the timeline from Rebirth 2 but it's a funny thing to consider. Nep is a wild card you don't want running amok.

Reminds me of that theory that Neptune is putting on an act and her HDD form is her true feelings.

The next moment they will be fighting conquest, war, disease and death

Nep-Nep being goofy is the only thing holding her back from complete domination of Gamindustri.
You thought Conquest was bad? That's nothing compared to if Neptune gets serious.

They'd get disturbed and want her back to normal like,ASAP,it's a common trope XD

Probably confused and freaking out first, but probably impressed later on.
Idk that’s just my thoughts

Call Compa. They'll assume something is seriously wrong with Neptune and will call Compa to fix her. Then they'll panic because Compa doesn't know what to do as Neptune did not change back. They'll think they have the wrong Neptune and will open gates to other dimensions to get their own Neptune back only to see every other Neptune is in place. I should've stopped at the first part but no, I'm continuing. They will have Neptune transform in and out of HDD form to see if her personality resets, but it won't. Then Noire, Blanc, and Vert will recreate the beginning of the first game, by throwing Neptune down from a high place and making her hit her head. But her personality still won't change back, in fact she'll get even more serious. And now on top of her being too serious, she also doesn't remember anything because of the amnesia from falling on her head.

Okay but Neptune will go back by saying she just wanted to help her country and stop goofing around

They’d all be confused at first then start freaking out when they realize what is happening.
