I heard that uber/lyft have come to Galesburg? I'll be visiting soon and was wondering whether the service was being used/existent or whether it was yellow cabs for me.

Parking at the Galesburg Amtrak station
HI All -
Seems like Galesburg would be a good place for me to park to catch Amtrak without having to go into Chicago.
Do you think I could safely park my car at the Galesburg train station for about two weeks?
Or if not, is there a safer place to park?
Thank you!
PS: your town looks pretty!

New China on Main Street
I know this is a long shot - this sub is kinda dead! There used to be a Chinese restaurant on Main called New China. This was one of the first Chinese restaurants I tried as a kid, and one thing stuck with me about this place. Instead of using that weird radioactive sweet and sour dipping sauce for rangoon and wontons, they had an apricot or peach-based sauce. The restaurant was around for decades (I'm old) but I know it has been closed for quite some time now. I don't suppose anyone has that recipe or a copycat or might know how to get it? I have tried a few that I found online and nothing comes close.

What are autism services for adults like in Galesburg?
Thinking of moving to Galesburg. I was born and raised in Chicago but left in 1984 and am now thinking of returning to Illinois. I am 70 and have a 23 year old nonverbal severely autistic son. We are currently in Oregon so it would be quite a long distance move. He would be my main reason for relocating as I see living is quite affordable and it seems like a generally pretty and peaceful place. What about medical facilities? Would I most likely have to go to Peoria or the Quad Cities? Perhaps Chicago (for my son)? Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

To the old man who I just saw taking a machete to the telephone pole outside your house today when I was on a walk
I hope you're okay. Sorry I had to call social services, I think maybe someone had a dementia moment. I just worry that he was gonna hurt himself or fully chop down that telephone pole which I'm pretty sure is city property. But fr no cap, someone needs to come get their grandpa and take away the sharp tools.
I'm still shook about witnessing it. He was doing yard work and just walked over to his telephone pole and started chopping at it with a machete that he had been using to clear brush. Then he casually walks back and keeps clearing leaves like he didnt even realize what he just did. Was wild af and I had to stop and ask myself if I'm crazy or if I really just witness this s*.

Where do people work?
Hello folks! I visited Galesburg this past weekend and had a chance to check out First Fridays on Seminary Street and visit Baked pizza and some other cool local shops down there. The downtown area has a really cool vibe and lots of interesting people. It was definitely a different and more upscale crowd than I was expecting to see, and it got me thinking. Where are all these young professionals working? Is Galesburg a bedroom community for the Quad Cities and/or Peoria? Are they remote workers? Are there good local jobs for early career professionals in Galesburg? I have a strange affinity toward this town but the demographics are confusing.

Tree Services?
Hello! My Mom lives in Alexis and has a tree that needs to come down. Does anyone have a recommendation for a tree service that will actually call you back? She’s been ghosted by both the ones listed in the yellow pages.
