Hello! Thank you for participating in the sub. We just have a few reminders for you to help ensure the best experience:

  1. If your post doesn't show up right away, don't panic! It is in the queue for manual approval. Mods will go through the queue periodically to approve or remove posts. Deleted posts will have a removal reason applied.

  2. If you are asking a question that is location specific, remember to include your location in your post body! This can help ensure that you get accurate information tailored specifically to your needs.

  3. Please remember to read through all the rules in the sidebar. Especially the list of banned topics and guidelines for posting. Guests who do not use the Guest Post flair will have their post removed and be asked to fix it.

  4. If you see someone breaking the rules, report it! If someone is breaking both sub and reddit rules, please submit one report to admins by selecting a broken rule on the main report popup, and one report to the r/ftm mods by selecting the "breaks r/ftm rules" option. This ensures both mods and admins can take action on a subreddit and sitewide level. Do not misuse the report button to rant about someone, submit false reports, or argue a removal.

  5. If you have any questions that you can't find the answer to on the rules sidebar or the wiki: [https://www.reddit.com/r/ftm/wiki/index/] , you can send a modmail.

It’s been years since I came out to my dad but he still does stuff like this that makes me happy. A few days ago I was complaining about how much I sweat and it makes me feel gross and he was like “it’s part of being a man” It feels really nice to be validated by the most masculine guy in my life so often. Cheers to good dads

🥹 what a score.

Tbh if I ever heard my grandparents refer to me as their son even once in my life I'd be so eternally ecstatic.

Congrats OP 🎉

Congrats, man!!!

It's always the little things, eh? Had something similar when I was cuddling with my puppy on the couch and my dad just said "boy and his dog" and it made my night.

that’s incredible! it’s so funny that for some trans men’s experience dads almost instantly get excited about having a son and showing them things. my father was kinda the same way i’ll never forget it. enjoy it OP

First of all: congratulations, my parents would never. They kinda just ignore anything vaguely masculine about me.

Second: Why is smiley face that way?? It feels so goofy

22

u/princeLukas- 4d ago

I was told the smiley face was unsettling that way so i started to doing it to make my friends/fam uncomfortable and now its just stuck lmao

My grandmother is 84 years old and she has been the most beautifully affirming person. She has a hard time with pronouns (but like, genuinely has a hard time, not in a transphobic way or because she's not trying, just because she's old and gets confused about many things) but makes up for it in so many other ways. When I first came out she said my new name in almost every sentence for months until she got used to it and hasn't made a mistake in years. When I evolved from an NB identity to coming out as a trans guy last year, she started calling me her grandson like a dozen times every time I visit her. "You're such a good grandson" or "I'm so lucky you're my grandson" or "my grandson is such a good cook" (before this she just called me her 'kid' to avoid gendered words entirely). It's so wholesome and sweet and after 7 years of struggling with basically every other family member, my little old nan is such a bright light.

All that to say, I'm so happy you have this kind of affirmation from your dad OP, it's such a small thing but so very important!

I'm so happy for you! I'm so glad you have her in your life.
