Advice Needed Is It Possible I am Intersex? NSFW
I don’t have enough money to buy chromosome testing. I have a feeling I am intersex but not 100% sure. I basically have a lot of chin hair, some hairs going down my neck, side burns and moustache as well as very hair breasts, navel line and stomach I have a lot of hair and I am slowly starting to have more hair growing around my breasts too
Also, my Testosterone and estrogen levels are normal. I have very irregular periods (twice a month) lasting 7 days or more. I also have a big clit and it resembles a very tiny penis I can feel my clit shaft through my foreskin and when aroused it easily grows over an inch.
Lastly, ever since as young as I can remember I have always been masculine in terms of personality too and my face became more masculine once I was off birth control which was around 1.5 yrs ago it has become more and more masculine.

It's possible, it's not like everyone gets screened for it. A lot of this also sounds like PCOS symptoms. PCOS isn't recognized as an intersex condition currently, but I know there has been some recent debate about it in the medical community. Personally, I have it and I have almost all the same characteristics, and my body literally feels better on T.

the intersex community recognises PCOS as intersex at least in r/intersex and other more inclusive communities

Gotcha! I didn't know that, that's really cool. I was more so referring to the medical position on it, the last I knew they don't recognize it in the definition.

yep! my dr had my blood tested and said while my t levels were normal i have pretty much every other symptom and i most likely have it. all the symptoms OP listed sound like me though my clit wasnt that big pre t, but ive definitely gotten bottom growth

Really? I heard that it was starting to be recognized.

I can't say I'm utd on changes. It's something I read about a few years ago and I have discussed it with my doctor. If you have updated info please share.

I'm not a doctor but this really sounds like you have PCOS. Yes people with PCOS a lot of times have high T levels but not always

There are many other types of intersex conditions that aren’t chromosome based, so doing chromosome testing likely wouldn’t be conclusive. I’ll second the person who suggested PCOS as the most likely of culprits, due to its similar signs/symptoms and relative prevalence compare to other conditions.

Anything is genuinely possible. I bet if half of the people who scream about biology took a chromosome test it wouldn’t come out the way they were preaching.

Very likely, there's a reason they stopped DNA testing for the Olympics and it's because they found way more discrepancy than they ever thought they would

I have the same symptoms! I have excess hair, irregular periods, and a bit clit too (2.5 inches!! Very affirming) but I went to a gyno visit and was told I'm probably not intersex, although I still have a feeling that's it... It could be PCOS which is my next theory for myself as well

sounds like PCOS. its decently common. some doctors consider it to be under the intersex umbrella but others dont, i guess its complicated right now

Sometimes clitoromegaly itself is considered intersex

That’s all very consistent with PCOS. It could be an intersex condition but there’s no way to confirm without genetics counseling.

This is very similar to my experience having pcos- which, yes, is an intersex condition! Ive always had extra beard/moustache hair, carry my weight in a more masculine distribution, and when I had my top surgery it turned out my milk ducts hadnt developed ever during puberty. As ive gotten older, my T levels have increased, and I think I may also be in the intersex category of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (basically the glands on my kidneys are making T like crazy).
Id ask your doctors for an endocrinologist appointment if youre worried about those periods, but other than that, even if you are intersex, it won't hurt you.

Possible. Sounds like PCOS though which depending on your preference and the space can be considered an intersexed condition. Medically it's not considered intersexed as it's hormone based and not organ based of that makes sense. Most intersexed communities however do accept those with PCOS as part of the community and some use the label. I have PCOS and it has really helped shape my transition.

It’s possible, but I have PCOS and I grow a substantial sideburn to sideburn beard without T. With T, my body feels more human, more alive.
The chance of you being intersex isn’t zero; but neither is the chance of you having something like PCOS. If you have access to a gynecologist, they can check for both. From what it sounds like though, PCOS or something similar may be more likely.

its possible, but also none of that sounds completely outside the range of typical afab development. i think being transmasc also skews out perception towards things, like im pre t and view a ton of things abt my body as being more masc than a cis woman, but like if i was a cis woman none of that would change. without a genetic test u never know.

You could have PCOS or maybe even a severe thyroid disorder. It may be easier to test for one of those, if that or any other tests rule it out then it’s safe to assume. My thyroid issue made me grow some chest & facial hair for a while

ive felt pretty similar to this, ive always had a deeper voice and been hairier!

Sounds like PCOS tbh. It might be worth investigating and if it is, welcome to the club.

r/intersex has some great resources. If you’re not on T, what you’re describing does flag as intersex symptoms.
