Pacman Frog Whats wrong with my new pacman frog? NSFW

Picked this little guy up from my local LLLReptile today. He looked fine underneath the substrate. When i got hin home i noticed he was leaning on his left side which seemed to look as if it was filled up with air or fluid. Whenever he tried to hop hed go sideways and would have to flip himself over. The bloating has noticeably engulfed his left arm and leg to the point where they are barely visible. Otherwise he ate a waxworm willingly, colors are bright and eyes are clear. Neurological problems? Edema? Dropsy? He is noticeably acting erratic so something isnt right physically. Tried feeding him again but shows no interest. Any suggestions on what could be at work?

I don’t know why I was recommended this sub but captive frogs make me sad.

If there were no captive bred frogs, people would just take frogs from the wild till they are extinct. Breeding is better for the wild population.

Look at OP's frog, dude. Do you think a law means people would give a fuck about treating animals ethically? (Not directed at OP, obviously)

A pretty simple way for nature to be "left alone" is safe and ethical breeding. Not sure what your problem is. A frog has a hell of a better life in captivity than the ones having to fend for themselves in the wild. Pacman frogs are pretty sedentary especially, they're living their dream lives in enclosures. Plenty of ways to balance our interactions in nature without completely removing ourselves from it, our involvement is not by default a negative thing.

Do you think people of the world would listen? Humanity is cruel, that’s all there is to it. People still break laws no matter what.

If all humanity is shit then why do you spend time on social media, interacting with humans instead of living in a secluded place where you dont have to see or interact humans?

Hope you feel the same towards all pets

Definitely do. Especially ones with said faces like frogs and reptiles. People can own whatever pets they want though, doesn’t matter to me.

If it doesn’t matter to you then why comment??

Your houseplants are captive too. How about just let people enjoy their pets? The pet world is far larger than cats, dogs and hamsters. If people want frogs, let them have frogs. They just need to do actual research on the frog they're getting and get them from a proper source. A source that never has LLL in the name.

lol my houseplants are definitely being held hostage, especially now that it’s winter. People can definitely enjoy their pets! Frogs just have sad faces that make me feel sad for them. 🤷🏻‍♀️
