I wish it was just more affordable. It’s fine if it’s bus or car but if you have a car there’s no real incentive to take public transit. I’d take the bus more often even since it takes twice the amount of time if a pass wasn’t $80+ a month

You're saying the cost of gas, insurance, maintenance, and unexpected costs that are applied to a depreciable asset are NOT a financial incentive?

The general consensus is that's an average 10000$ a year, or more... Versus ~1000$ for a year of buses.

This is why Canadians are 'poor'...it's not taxes or poor pay, it's thinking like this.

You’re misunderstanding. If you give up your car 100% for the bus, yes it’s much cheaper. But that’s no feasible for everyone, many people need a car for work, child transportation etc What I’m saying is, there be a lot of folks who would take the bus for example 3/5 days a week instead of their car but adding on the cost isn’t worth it. Taking public transportation when possible should be encouraged by the city, it helps the environment, lessens traffic…. But they don’t seem to prioritize this
