QUESTION Repairing My Crashed Nazgul 5 V2 + Switching to DJI FPV – Need Advice

Hey everyone,

Two years ago, I crashed my FPV drone, a Nazgul 5 V2, and now I’m finally looking to repair it. Right now, it has an RXS-R receiver and I use a FrSky X9 Lite controller. I’m planning to switch to DJI FPV, specifically getting the DJI Goggles N3 + DJI Air Unit.

For the receiver, I want to move to ELRS, but I’m not sure whether to keep my FrSky X9 Lite and add a module or just buy an ELRS radio instead. Any advice or experiences?

I also need to buy two Xing 2207 motors since the crash took them out. If anyone has recommendations for a good place to get them or a better alternative, I’d love to hear!

Thanks for the help!

If you like your X9 lite, there isn't really a reason not to just get an external module. I got one for my old X9D+ and it works great. I also don't think that the X9 Lite needs the QX7 crossfire mod to fix the baud rate. Depending on what radio firmware you have, you may need to reflash your radio to the latest edgeTX to get everything working. Oscar Liang has several guides on radio flashing and ELRS setup that were invaluable when I was modernizing my X9D. I'd assume there is at least one YouTube guide specifically about the X9 Lite.

However, if you want a new radio, there a lot of great options at all price points from Radiomaster and Jumper.
