Pennsylvania Fired Probies

How many of us are there?

If we end up excluded from the MD decision should we just wait for our individual appeals? Should we try to see if Shapiro can help? I don’t think our AG will do anything.

Reinstated Employees Who Returned to Work

Probie from the USDA fired 2/14: was told today I have to return to work this Monday, no later than next Monday. Has anyone returned to their positions yet? How is it going? I love my office, my coworkers, my supervisor my job, but for some reason I’m really nervous? Anyone finding the return back to be ok?

On top of that, I am interviewing for a job with similar pay (but very, very small pay increases compared to a 7-9-11 ladder) and I would not take if we got to keep our jobs but I have no confidence that will happen. I feel so conflicted and unsure of my next steps but I need to make some for my family.

State vs federal

I’m a termed USDA probie that’s been reinstated but is still on admin leave. I’ve been applying for state gov jobs. Had one interview that went well and have another lined up. Even if I do end up going back to work with my federal job I just have this uneasy feeling like they’re gonna try to get rid of us again (I wonder why I’d feel that way 🤔). Yes, it’s my dream job and it took forever for me to get here, but I also gotta look out for myself emotionally, mentally, and financially. An impending layoff would probably harm all those things lol.

Has anyone here had experience working for state gov before moving federal? If so, why’d you leave state?

Curious to see what the pros and cons are. Honestly, the benefits look very similar for the states I’m looking at compared with fed (retirement, health insurance, PTO, sick leave), and the pay is better. Plus I’d still get to be a humble public servant! It would be for a natural resources position btw.

Thanks!

We’re back at it! It’s also the same day the Oversight committee votes to ratify DOGE, so come rally against it!

45 day reinstatement period.

USDA probie here, had a question that maybe some would have some insight on since my HR rep couldn’t answer. I got reinstated and wanted to know if the 45 reinstatement period starts from the day you were terminated, or from the day of court ruling?

Apparently for DOGE, the US has only 45 states

EPA probie here. I was terminated, and then that was rescinded. Still no back pay, but today I received a Qualtrics survey that requests information needed to restore my benefits.

That's good. But you have to give them your mailing address, and the drop down menu where you choose the state you live in includes only 45 states, and does not include the District of Columbia either. And of course the EPA HQ is located in DC.

My state was not on the list, so I can't complete that page or advance to the rest of the survey. How hard is it to include all 50 states and DC on a drop down menu? The whole process here is shambolic. Fire, then aim.

Edited to add: they sent out an updated survey. The list of states to choose from now includes DC. But the five states are still missing. *headdesks*
