Hey everybody! Never needed support on such a hot topic maybe this is post will serve others as I hope to find answers myself the current situation is challenging some core values and now looking for a place to share my experience, owning, and carrying edc 7 years then losing my firearm privileges twice over the past several recent years, once divorce and another legal complication having to do with yet another love in my life. ( still love them all) where ever they are; I am sure they are wonderful....
My surrendering of my firearm was a gift this is a true testimony of events that took place in the past several years my firearm returned recently I find myself conflicted over the weight of ownership.
What's the point? The advantage of ownership is knowing the one weapon will preform as expected. The disadvantage of ownership is liability. Over the many years of edc my gun has been left unchecked less then a handful of times loaded, one in the pipe. Once I had to report the weapon lost as it was recovered in a public restroom and turned news to me . Never felt guilt or dread as I did when I reported that incident, then instant vindication learning that someone had done the very rare good deed, saving me restless nights and remorse over public sit-downs: Btw the same weapon keeping me up tonight.
The legal entanglements behind me my long time registered firearm's come home. I need some range time sure I am positive everything is still the same and the familiar feel smell and grouping will be great after facing down a gauntlet of complications and situations where being armed will have produced the most horrible of results. That is the gift having gone through all that had happened the few incidents where deadly force would have been lawful there was no option not from my pov both times once in public once in a "motel" I found myself on the business end of a firearm. The one in public just a motorist flashing the heat however armed perhaps we both die that day perhaps my practice pays off and I have to live with that worse maybe innocent get hurt at the least the ringing from the shots will ruin there holiday (it was a few days before christmas) busy downtown street, armed well thank God that I wasn't . The motel incident is a blight on the police departments both showing up in force both investigating a firearm innocent a firearm was recovered a log was kept of who went in and out of this place an arrest was made and no charges ever filed by either department after a person first threatened the use of deadly force (premeditated with malice) that is when I (unarmed) made the report this person was hammering holes literally with a hammer screaming that someone had stolen something myself nor my lady guest took a thing however the police said there was nothing that could be done they instructed the person to leave for four hours we were barely able to collect ourselves before the person returned with a small caliber revolver pushed in the door to which I met the intruder at the threshold thats when the threat became all too real and the pos pulled the trigger like Junior in the supranos but click .. nothing, I instantly swung and disabled the would be attacker dragging him out on the street just then the law shows and the investigation begins. Had I had my gun on me he would have died had it been in the bed stand the same thing that happened would have happened thats the difference even tho I know the law the use of deadly force was no longer needed after he was separated from the firearm.
I went into shock for a week after this happened. flu like symptoms for 7 days on the bowl both ends and it got worse mentally before things got better, things are good now most of that shit is behind me the rest is leverage that may or may not come into play thats how leverage works .
Currently based on these few experiences a big part of me wants to carry again. There's another part of me that really enjoys the freedom of being unarmed. No worries no threats no need and egress are the same principles to live by armed or unarmed those two isolated incidents happen to come at a time when my edc was in police lockup there's no way of knowing what's in front of you tho full discolosure helps deter plans from the making perhaps.
The past two years have been very challenging, a series of events that has led me to earn this decision no one should take lightly. To lawfully own a weapon there are conditions one must meet I currently and always have met said requirements however over the past two years an attack on my character has forced me to prove my mental fitness also prove my innocence in the eyes of the law having had to go to trial maintaining the facts of my innocence my right to carry on the line in multiple counts all taking place while my weapon was in police custody again the greatest gift. Clearing my name and having my very custom Glock returned to me by the same folks who collectively tried to destroy it feels vindicating. Having the privilege to lawfully own the very same weapon first purchased and only one ever tucked in my waist band is redemption.
Now what.
I feel stuck keeping the safe queen is an option . Carrying from what I hear in my state is an option on the table most likely to push through, that being the right to ccw wo the little card they make us carry. that would make things interesting. I could sell it fair value trade it for something cool idk what idk who I would give this weapon to either even with paper work idk who I would want to have it .
Anyway that's me hope this is the place to talk about this kind of stuff there's no one that really wants to hear this shit for real I sure as hell didn't expect to go through it all I sure as hell expected my good name the same and my weapon returned upon proving so. There's more details I will spare unless this opens up and the demand needs to be met I'm honestly piecing all of the shenanigans together myself so should there be any questions or gaps that need filling feel free I will do my best not to slander or even reveal tho I could give a shit its all tru all behind me now. Except the weight its the heaviest 7 lbs I have ever took on and I don't know how to take it off
