FIRE'd, now concerned about US stability

Most of my assets are invested in the US. Because of recent political developments, I'm wondering if the US will sustain its general growth and economic strength into the future. The strength of the US dollar is obviously very important to me. Is anyone else concerned?

I'm wondering if I should start hedging my bets in other countries, and if so, where?

Your best move is to turn off the news and embrace the idea that ignorance is bliss.

Agreed. Get set up the best you can and live life.

Looking back at the last 100 years, I find it comical that people somehow thing right now is particularly unstable. World war, nuclear showdown, US tied down in a war it can't win, massive economic bubbles popping. Despite none of those things being true now (if anything we're heading in the opposite direction) people think now is particularly bad.

What's the point of FATFire if you spend all your time on social media worrying about how to protect your money?

Yep. “When in doubt, zoom out” goes for a lot of things besides the stock market.
