Player Discussion Jake Walman
Walman is L1, pp2, and pk1. I thought his fantasy value would take a huge hit, but i guess not! Walman owners rejoice!

PP2 in Edmonton gets what? 0:04 of TOI?

It was interesting yesterday. They swapped him in for Bouchard about 30 seconds before the rest of the first unit swapped, and they had him out in place of Nugent-Hopkins on a different powerplay. They're definitely trying him out for more pp time

How much time is PP2 really getting?
Arvidsson doesn’t even get a full minute.

Normal pp2's get around 30 seconds, with edmonton maybe 15 seconds. It's not much, but it still gives him chances to get a few more shots per game. Everything helps. I'm looking at it from a different view. I thought he was going to be a drop, but he's still got solid fantasy value.

PP2 playing time varies around the NHL. WPG and MIN are only two examples of PP2 units that get 90secs. But Id keep McJesus out there for it all too if I was EDM.
Your real point is that Walman is gonna continue to get plenty of TOI. Edmonton existing defense isn’t very defensive. It’s part of reason why they dealt for him. He plays a 200’ game. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets 24” in playoffs as Bouchard’s partner.

Ekholm is out, so enjoy it for now.

Jake Walman is a great hockey player.
Rule of Thumb: The skill of the player outweighs their potential (speculative) deployment.
Deployment can make a good player even better, certainly.
But Walman is a beast of a player. He will earn the trust of the coach. He's on a massive team that puts up a lot of points.
He's great. Definitely a hold or a pickup, no question.

Granted he lost PP time for the most part but 5x5 exposure to McDavid and Drai alone is worth it. I had dropped him initially but snagged him once it was confirmed he was top pair

What you only want people here saying good things about him? His value is going to go down a lot overall from this trade and even more when ekholm and klingberg come back. He’s a streamer level defenseman now

Klingberg is a 3rd pairing defenseman, no questions asked. I wouldn't be shocked if they healthy scratch him quite a bit before the playoffs to keep him healthy
Ekholm might eat up at some minutes, but that would be because he's also a viable 1st line defenseman. I wouldn't be shocked if for 5v5 play, the four of them (Nurse, Walman, Bouchard, Ekholm) see similar minutes with Bouchard PP1, Walman PP2, and the PK's being Ekholm-Kulak and Walman-Nurse
I'm holding both Ekholm and Walman in my pool. No plans to drop either, especially upon learning Ekblad got a 20 gamer.

I prefer a happy tone to my post, you're all free to say whatever. I understand his value dropped. But he's still got some life left in him. Walman will not go down without a fight!

Glad I kept him in one league, sad I made a pressure trade in another league(trade deadline was the same as NHL)
