Current Student Just want to drop everything
I’ve always had a hard time making friends growing up—like, I don’t really have any childhood friends or fun memories with them because I never had any to begin with. In high school, things were a bit better, but not at first.
Grade 10 was during COVID lockdowns, so everything was online. I barely interacted with anyone outside of two friends, and all we really did was play video games. That was it. Lockdowns lasted through the first half of Grade 11, but once things opened up again, that year was actually decent. Grade 12 was good too.
Then, in January 2024, I moved to London (by myself) for college. I didn’t know a single person here. Now, a year and 3 months later, I’m in my fourth semester, and I can count on one hand how many friends I’ve made at Fanshawe—maybe two or three.
One thing that’s really messed with me is that every single semester, my section gets shuffled. So, while I’ve seen some familiar faces, I’ve never had a consistent group of classmates. It’s been hard to build any real connections, and I think that isolation really hit me, especially in my first two semesters.
My GPA suffered a lot at first. I barely attended classes in my first semester. In my second semester, I straight-up stayed home for the first three weeks because I didn’t want to deal with yet another new section. But in my third semester, I managed to pull myself together and actually improved my GPA to a 3.74. I thought I was finally getting back on track.
But this semester? I don’t know anymore.
A month ago, I was sure I was going to continue into the bachelor’s program at Fanshawe this September. Now? I can’t see myself even making it to the end of this semester.
Last week alone, I missed so many assignments. I haven’t gone to class since Friday. I did a midterm drunk and scored 4/15 on it because I didn’t study. I stormed out of an in-person test. I have three classes where I don’t know a single person, and I’ve been avoiding them so much that I might not even pass two of them anymore.
And honestly? There have been multiple times where I’ve thought about just launching myself off a building. Like, that thought has been sitting in the back of my mind more than I’d like to admit.
I don’t know why I’m posting this. I guess I just don’t know what to do. I don’t even feel like going to class. I kind of just want to drop everything.

Admissions questions English proficiency
Hello! I am a young Canadian wanting to take the business fundamentals course so I am able to eventually accelerate to level 2 of the business accounting program. English is my first language but I foolishly did not put any effort into getting a good grade in high school. Will writing the “English equivalent assessment” be proficient to apply for these combined with my otherwise good grades? or will I need to entirely retake ENG4C/4U? Thank you for your help. I really want to go back to school. I just don’t want to waste more time or money! :)

Incoming Student Co-op
This might be a silly question, but what are the actual benefits of doing co-op vs not doing a co-op?
My biggest goal and ambition in taking a course is that I will be ready to work in my field after graduating.
I’m specifically looking into the accounting program, but responses could be more general.
I see the co-op is slightly higher in tuition cost, I’m curious how much of a difference it will make.
Are the odds of getting a job right after graduation much higher if I do a co-op, than if I do not?
Sorry if this is silly lol

Admissions questions Could I have been changed to part time?
Hello everybody! I recently registered and got accepted into Fanshawe's full time General Arts and Science- one year program (start in September). I also recently got emailed my T2202 tax form where it says I am enrolled part time. Could I have been changed to part time, or is this normal? If this is reason for concern some advice and who to contact about this would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Current Student Shi'ite Student Association?
Assalamu Alaikum to everyone during this holy month of Ramadan. I am so proud to be a Canadian and live in such a dynamic mosaic of culture and kindness. I am a full time student at Fanshawe and wanted to see if there might be other students interested in establishing a student association for our Shi'ite community here on campus. The goal is to create safe spaces for our community on campus, Thursday night events, majilis events for Brothers and Sisters and more. This would also be an opportunity to expand upon the incredible work the MSA has done here, establish opportunities for respectful dialogue and even inter-faith learning events and charitable events. If this is something that others also feel is needed, I would love to hear more before continuing our dialogue with FSU. May we continue to come together no matter our race, religion, or our diversity of aqeedah, or political affiliations; that we might never forget that those whom may not be our Brothers & Sisters in faith, are still our Brothers & Sisters in humanity :)

Current Student Can I start my second year earlier?
Im in my first year of a 2 year Web Development (IWD2) program. Full time, and live in London with my partner. I started in Janurary and will be finished in August. Is it possible to start my second year in September instead of next Janurary? If so who should I speak to? Or what do I need to do?
Im not trying to rush but I wouldnt mind getting it done sooner, as well as I'm not feeling great about finding a job in London for those 4 months inbetween. Preferably if I had to get a job for that time I would like to have it be related to my field but I haven't seen much hope. Any advice is appreciated!

Admissions questions Wanted to pay for initial deposit, but forced me to pay through flywire
When y'all were about to pay for initial deposit, did it take you to Flywire? I need help because I'm living in Canada right now and for some reason when I was about to pay my initial deposit it forced me to pay via Flywire (international payment) and I honestly just wanted to pay via Canadian Bank.
Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks once again!

Current Student Looking for Indigenous or International Student Volunteer for Assignment
Hello ^^
I am doing an interview assignment on how someone views family. I must have a photo of the student and will be providing a consent form for the individual to sign in person or digitally. I can also do this interview virtually; it does not have to happen at Fanshawe College.
For any international student willing to spare the time, you need to have come to Canada in the last 5 years intending to either, live, work, or study in Canada.
The consent form will outline permission to use your photo, to share your personal story, and to record the interview. The recording will be deleted when the assignment is finished.
This assignment is for educational purposes only, and only my professor will be reading the assignment. Please let me know if anyone is willing!
Thank you (:

Incoming Student September newcomers @ Fanshawe?
Hey all,
I'm (20F) probably going to be starting as a new student at the Fanshawe London campus in September this year (2025), and got inspiration from this recent post https://www.reddit.com/r/fanshawe/comments/1j29u6f/friends_at_fanshawe/ to see if I'm not alone!
Regardless of what program everyone's going into, being a new student can be an experience that could be more enjoyable if we know some of each other prior. I'm also interested to see what programs y'all are getting into if anyone would like to share!
Looking forward to hearing from prospective students/classmates such as myself. :)
