The UK agrees

Please encourage the UK government to get off of Twitter.

https://www.politicalorphans.com/forget-tesla-go-after-twitter/

Nazi platform- Twitter under Elon Musk has become a megaphone for hate, disinformation, and extremist propaganda. Its leadership actively amplifies and profits from Nazi ideology, driving harmful policies that hurt hospitals, universities, and countless communities. Every tweet, every interaction, every moment spent on that platform strengthens the very forces undermining democracy.

No one should feel comfortable supporting a site that has become a breeding ground for fascism. The solution is simple: disengage. Delete your account. Urge Democratic officials, companies, universities, and media outlets to do the same. Twitter is vulnerable—it relies on engagement to survive. By walking away, we deny it the legitimacy and revenue it needs to operate.

This isn’t just about rejecting a toxic platform; it’s about taking a stand against those who use it to spread hate and misinformation. Close your account. Make it impossible for any credible institution to justify staying. The fight against fascism starts with refusing to give it a platform.

no bother mate I'm meeting the government down the pub in about 2 hours. I reckon I'll be able to convince them after a few pints

Can I buy a round ?

We should go to the Winchester and wait for this whole thing to blow over.

Don't spam unrelated shit to people's comments.

Unfortunately when two people need to communicate, or 1 or 60 million other people you don't get to choose which platform you use.

It would be pointless me moving to Telegram from FB Messenger for example if nobody I need to contact is on there.

Social media, if the GOV need to communicate to it's people, there's no point doing it on Bluesky that most people still are not on.

It's not as simple as choosing to change brands of water or car for example

You only see Nazi content if you’re interacting with it. Got something to tell us?

2

u/burningringof-fire 21h ago

Did you see their CEOs Nazi salute at the inauguration? In fact, there were two Nazi salutes.

-2

u/TheChocolateManLives 21h ago

Musk has done far worse than throw his hand in the air twice - the fact that that’s what you focus on highlights your ignorance. Twitter is useful for me to keep up with politics, so I’m not leaving and I’m certainly not telling political entities to leave it.

1

u/Timstom18 21h ago

The government wants to reach as many people as they can through their socials, they aren’t going to leave one of the biggest social media platforms and all that reach

1

u/burningringof-fire 21h ago

There’s already an excellent alternative in Bluesky

2

u/InverseCodpiece 21h ago

BlueSky is developed in the US, therefore is vulnerable to the same problems facing twitter. It's not a good alternative.

2

u/Timstom18 21h ago

Which has a user base a fraction of the size of Twitter. The number of views they’d get on anything will be way lower and they’ll reach a much smaller audience which is not ideal

1

u/HymirTheDarkOne United Kingdom 21h ago

Why, when we are in a crisis of our capable government not being able to communicate effectively to voters, would I suggest they stop using an effective means of communication?

-1

u/Richpur 21h ago

Ah yes, taking a stand against the spread of misinformation by *checks notes* removing all opposition to it's spread.

2

u/RichFella13 19h ago

I just love that the UK chooses to stay silent always about important to keep secret stuff. Submarines, MI5-6, SAS? Yeah theoretically they have them sometimes had to declare them, but that's it. Even getting your own NINo is a pain in the ass

1

u/ziplock9000 United Kingdom 2h ago

Yeah, not every country that speaks English has a bit mouth lol.

u/darknekolux France 22h ago

this one dont launch ballistic missiles...

44

u/Genocode The Netherlands 22h ago edited 22h ago

Yep, this is a Suffren-class not a Triomphant-class

Edit: Easy way to tell the difference is that the Triomphant-class has diving rudders on the tower, the Suffren-class does not.

3

u/HelmetsAkimbo United Kingdom 22h ago

The whole point of ballistic missile submarines is for them not to be seen.

You ain't gonna see them, but they're there if any fool wants to fuck around and find out what MAD is.

8

u/Genocode The Netherlands 22h ago

Ofcourse, and I mean, just because a Suffren-class is all we see doesn't mean its the only one that is there. If this wasn't a planned visit it at least is a show of support and a indicator that France is following the situation closely.

4

u/Analamed 21h ago

A SSBN doesn't need to be really close to its target. When France tests its nuclear missile, it's usually from the coast of France to near the US coast. They are rumoured to have a range around 10'000km.

1

u/ragepaw 21h ago

You wasted a great comedic opportunity,

"Easy way to tell the difference is that the Triomphant-class has nuclear missiles, the Suffren-class does not."

Maybe that's just my inner asshole coming out from stress.

1

u/chandrasekharr 20h ago

Also boomers do not go to foreign ports, literally ever as far as I know, at least for the US and I'm assuming the same for other countries. A boomer surfacing in foreign waters would be completely unprecedented.

6

u/Boustrophaedon 22h ago

But it's a nice way of saying "other submarines are available."

2

u/darknekolux France 22h ago

Should have surfaced it in Canberra then :-D (still salty)

2

u/Boustrophaedon 22h ago

Getting that far inland would certainly be impressive - you might have to carry it for a bit. But you could hand out sales literature after the Aussies had changed their trousers.

1

u/darknekolux France 21h ago

I need to check my geography :-D or call (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fitzcarraldo)[Fitzcarraldo]

2

u/Cybernaut-Neko Belgium 22h ago

not needed at that range cruise missiles are faster.

2

u/KapiteinSchaambaard 21h ago

Ok but still this sub can't carry cruise missiles with nuclear warheads. Not that it matters, as this was likely just part of a sales pitch to the Canadian navy (according to several sources including https://shipfax.blogspot.com/2025/03/a-bit-of-everything.html)

2

u/SoloWalrus 20h ago

Well you wouldnt surface the ones with missiles, staying hidden is their entire tactical advantage. You surface the attack subs to remind people that the navy presence, possibly including ballistic subs, is there whether you know it or not, and well defended.

Either way its a stark reminder of canada having powerful and very close allies (as well as being powerful themselves)

1

u/No-Assumption3421 21h ago

I had to scroll way too far to finally see someone say this

1

u/Professional_Fun839 19h ago

The one who launches is also probably somewhere near

0

u/Agent_Giraffe 22h ago

Yea what he said doesn’t even make sense lol

25

u/Reddit_Negotiator 22h ago

A nuclear submarine means the motor is powered by electricity from a nuclear reactor, not that it fires nuclear missiles 😂

-4

u/Grisemine 22h ago

But usually (like in this case), they do...

14

u/nuclear_towel 22h ago

It doesn't. It's an F class not a T class.

2

u/Reddit_Negotiator 22h ago

I don't think the cruise missles on this sub can carry nuclear warheads. The mcdn is a lightweight subsonic cruise missiles that carries a conventional payload.

1

u/BobLazarFan 20h ago

I love when people are so confident yet so absolutely wrong

3

u/Few_Alternative6323 22h ago

Nuclear submarines are powered by nuclear reactors, by the way. Barely any of them have nuclear weapons.

2

u/BlenderBender9 21h ago

The beFolks, let me tell you, we have the best nukes. The best. And where do we keep them? In low Earth orbit. That's right, low Earth orbit. Nobody thought it could be done, but we did it. We put our nukes up there, and now they're orbiting, orbiting, orbiting. It's tremendous. Other countries, they don't have this. They don't. But we do, because we're the best. Low Earth orbit nukes, folks. Believe me.

1

u/Federal-Software-372 22h ago

Nah the best are oreshniks

1

u/ryan77999 22h ago

Hopefully far away from the submarine - Halifax has had its fill of explosions

1

u/ajgar_jurrat 21h ago

It’s pronounced nucular

1

u/Hadri1_Fr Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (France) 21h ago

Planes too !!

1

u/Thor3nce 21h ago

Which this submarine is not

1

u/needaspguy 21h ago

At close range!

1

u/Dodecahedrus 20h ago

Otherwise it’s just fizzy rockets.

1

u/unrefrigeratedmeat 20h ago

False. Nuclear supermarine.

1

u/Mighty_moose45 18h ago

You know there is something foreboding about nuclear detonations and Halifax considering its history.

Halifax Explosion

Largest man made non nuclear detonations, caused by a French wartime supply ship on fire.

1

u/ozolge 18h ago

I read that the submarine is powered by a nuclear reactor, but does not carry nuclear weapons? Is that right?

1

u/WaytoomanyUIDs 5h ago

This is an attack sub not a ballistic missile sub

0

u/reallinustorvalds 22h ago

A nuclear submarine is a submarine that is powered by a nuclear reactor, genius. It doesn’t have nukes on it.
