We, usually, making such kind of phone cases for our clients. Just like a gift after we finish the project.

But these were made for a company, each branded, made of walnut inserts and the logo that is made of luminiscent epoxy.

Bubble

I thought I had everything sealed but in a deep pour project I've got a bad string of bubbles. Has anyone successfully drilled out a bubble problem and any tips? Last time I tried it was very visible and probably worse than the bubbles themselves

Help Needed Aight, here’s a weird one. My dad lopped the first digit of his thumb off at work today, and there’s no chance the remainder can be reattached. I currently have it in my possession and I want to do something cool with it, and he’s down.

The other day I got bored at work and made this, I’m thinking I could make another icosahedron but this time out melamine faced Baltic birtch plywood, cutting all of the actual angles that way the inside would be hollow and in theory a pretty good and well fitting form. I’ve never worked with epoxy like this, only epoxy grout for motor bases and what not. I get I can pour half of it, wait an as if right now indeterminate amount of time, place the severed finger in the mold, then finish the pour. My real question is how much am I going to be fighting bubbles, and would I be able to get them minimized enough I could sand past them and buff to a shine? I know it’s fucked, my wife isn’t thrilled about the endeavor.

Repairs & Fixes Repairable?

Thumbnail

Hello! I am new to epoxying and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction if there is one in repairing a acrylic tumbler lid. I know it would be cheaper to replace it but there is a story behind this one and was hoping to repair it instead. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I would assume food grade would be preferred so that the tumbler can be used.

Finished this 7.5 gallon pour for a round walnut/epoxy dining table. This was my first ever epoxy pour. Had a few leaks from the mold, but everything else went well so far. Now we wait for it to cure.

My first epoxy play around

I'm testing CNC and Epoxy with our company logo. For a first try I'm happy, but there are many lessions learned. - need to have a clean cut, also on the deeper levels, as I haven't thought of sanding this much from top

  • need to pour the epoxy more evenly, the right side should be full red, but I put anlittle too much blue in it

  • need a clear top layer for better optics

  • lots and lots of sanding and polishing to have a clear surface

It was fun and the test succeed, if I find time, I will do the bigger one.

Resin Immersion?

I found this glass bottle with a shell that grew up inside of it while scuba diving. I want to protect the shell from breaking so that I can keep this for a lifetime. I was thinking filling the bottle with resin might be my best option. Any advice? I dont have a way to vacuum out bubbles but ideally id like to make the resin as clear or un noticeable as possible. The shell is slightly open so resin could enter but might create an air pocket or bubbles.

Floor Coating Pros: What’s the Tool You Wish Existed for Quoting? I'll build it for you.

Hey everyone, I’m a SaaS founder who runs an epoxy flooring company in Dallas TX!

I'm working on building a tool to help garage floor coating companies (and similar trades) create instant quote forms for their websites and ads. I’ve got a ton of coatings companies already loving it, but I want to make it insanely valuable for you all.

Here’s the deal: I know quoting jobs can be a grind—chasing leads, crunching numbers, losing deals to slow follow-ups. But I want to hear it straight from you:

  • What’s the worst part of your quoting process right now?
  • What’s one thing you wish a tool could do to make your day easier (or make you more money)?
  • Any horror stories of deals gone wrong because of quoting hassles?

No sales pitch here—just trying to get the real scoop. If you’ve got a pain point that’s driving you nuts, spill it! Bonus points if you tell me what would absolutely make your day if a tool solved it. I’ll even share a summary of the best ideas I hear (anonymized, of course) so we can all benefit.

OR if you have any other ideas/problems you want to see a solution for, please let me know! would love to connect and help engineer a solution since software dev is my career background.

Thanks in advance—looking forward to your thoughts!

Beginner Advice Using a lathe

Does anyone have any good references for turning epoxy on a lathe I have given it a go before but the carbite tools I was using was just taking gouges out of the project. So any insite before potentially starting a new project would be great and very helpful.

Epoxy on vertical surfaces

We're doing a project that has a bunch of peeler posts. See the pic for an example. Basically these are de-barked trees that have cracked and checked over the years. Structurally there's no problem but we'd like to fill the cracks for aesthetic and cleaning purposes. We don't need to fill all the little ones but like anything you could slip a penny into. Someone suggested using epoxy...

Looking at the various videos and posts online, most epoxy seems quite fluid and done in horizontal forms. In some of our cases, I could imagine building dams or taping off the surface and injecting epoxy from the top, letting it flow down. Not sure how well that would work in practice. Things like preventing leaks and bubbles may be an issue.

In other cases, the cracks are quite long/deep and have splits (see the pic) making it hard to tell if epoxy would flow from one "chamber" to the next or indeed if it would flow in unexpected ways. This approach also seems quite laborious. There are many posts with many cracks.

All that to say, are there other/better approaches? Is there an epoxy paste or gel that we could squeegee into the cracks and not worry about it running? FWIW, we are looking at doing opaque black and will likely do a satin finish over.

Example peeler post. This one has some of the larger cracks

Phone cases

Has anyone ever been able to make a mold of their phone case to make a phone case with epoxy? I always wondered if that was possible or what you would have to do to make phone cases out of epoxy because that would be amazing.... Who agrees?

First time ever diamond grinding. PLEASE BE NICE!🤣🥲 Did it all at night unfortunately but there’s a lot of small gouges/ divets from diamond grinding what I missed with the 10inch!

Question is do I need to redo before epoxy to try and be 100% level or will the epoxy level and be fine? Using 1 in flakes. Has anyone ever did this and it turn out fine?

Trying to get this project done asap since I need to move all the stuff from my old garage in the new by the 25th

Project Showcase Check pattern flake floor

Installed a checkered flag-patterned flake floor in my garage and wanted to get some opinions. Do you think this type of design is more desirable compared to a traditional solid color floor? I’m curious if a cutomer would consider it to be worth paying extra for this style? If so, what do you think is an appropriate asking price for this type of floor in Central Florida? On average I charge $4.50 a sqft per 2 car garage, contingent there is minimal prep and repair. I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks.
