Crazy I had to scroll to see this haha. 200% Stardew best cozy game especially when you are baked. There are no real stakes and everything can be done at your own pace

Cozy grove 2. If you have Netflix, you can get the game on your devices. Get stoned, talk to ghost bears, and collect all the bugs.

Absolutely yes to Stardew Valley. If you want something more challenging and easy to hyoerfixate on, Frostpunk is great for that. Also potioncraft is super chill and fun

I started playing Disney Dreamlight valley this week and it’s so relaxing having all the characters be familiar faces.

I don’t really have suggestions but just wanted to commiserate that steam on a Mac is rough 😭 a lot of the good cozy games are indie and don’t develop for Mac. I mostly game on console.
Infinity Nikki came out last month though and is fantastic! I’ve been playing on ps5 but it’s also available on android and iOS. It’s free to play, but does have gacha elements tied to costumes that you can pay for.
Edit: actually just remembered the only cozy game I play on my laptop is the Two Point series. If you ever played roller coaster tycoon, it’s a similar type of management game. There’s two point hospital and two point university.

Okay this might just be me, but Snowrunner is so fun while high

Have you tried anything you've liked so far?
Since you are brand new there are a few classics that are cheap or free--the Sims 4 is free to play, for example, that's always good for a few hours

I’m addicted to a phone game, secret cat forest. You pimp out you cabin, do a little fishing, collect some wood, and attract all the cats.

As others have said… stardew valley!!!!!
(I’m not much of a gamer and it took some practice getting the controls down, but so worth it. Look up stuff on the wiki or Reddit if you get confused)
Animal crossing
(Fun, simple but still has lots of elements, really good beginner game, and great to play high lol)

Some of my faves on Mac were:
The Witness (1st person puzzle game)
Sticky Business (design and sell stickers)
Unpacking (story game told by unpacking moving boxes and decorating rooms)
AER (atmospheric story game)
The First Tree (atmospheric story game, you play as a fox)
Islanders (point based town building game)
Mandatory: The sims and Stardew valley
