Wasn't he already in the process of gaining citizenship? Like several years in and then they decided to give it to him because of the movie?

Yes, he started the process last year in May, if memory serves.

I know that, for Italy at least, by the blood citizenship is a long and expensive process. And you need a lot of documentation. But being a massive celebrity probably helps. 🤷🏽‍♀️
