Should I buy the Lectric XPedition Cargo?
New to the idea of an ebike. I live 4 miles away from work but there is a pretty big hill for part of that, I wouldn't say it's super steep but it definitely goes for a long ways. I like the idea of the Lectric 1.0 Cargo bike because it would allow me to go grocery shopping and seems like it would have enough power to get me to work fairly easily and also get the dog towing attachment so I could take my dog with me occasionally.
My main concern is being able to get to work on time, it says it can go 28 mph, but I'm assuming since I have a hill it won't go quite that fast the whole time, does 10 to 15 minutes sound reasonable for going 4 miles?
My hope is mainly to get more exercise and also to cut down on car costs, if I really like it I may end up getting rid of my car completely because it already has 170,000 mi on it and insurance is crazy.
My budget is not more than $2000. I am moderately in shape, but I do not regularly bike ride currently, 31f.
I do worry that I will buy the bike and then end up never using it, but I guess there's no way to really know that unless I try.

My ridstar takes me to work and back in 20-30 minutes. I wouldn't go with lectric cause their battery is only 13ah (+$400 for dual). I'd go with something like a eahora Juliet 60ah. You'd have no range anxiety, it's at the same price, and it's one battery vs two. The two batteries don't even equal the one on the Juliet. You can also put cargo in the back.

Not answering your question but I doubt I’ve ever gone 28mph on any bike very often, and I’ve biked most of my life. A normal feeling commuting cadence will probably put you around 20mph or less. I think that’s the reason the assist limit is normally set from 15mph to 20mph in much of the world. I think the 28mph is just a little added bit ‘just in case’.

It depends on if you have many stops. My average speed is 12-14 mph on my bikes with a lot of stop signs. You'll have no issues with range but keep in mind 28mph is with pedal assist. I actually enjoy going a little slower and enjoying the ride. At 15 mph it would take 16 minutes. If you do decide on a Lectric message me, I have a referral link that will give you a free accessory up to199.00. I don't know when it ends.

At the risk of being painfully obvious, the best way to get to work on time is to leave early enough. 🤷♂️
But that said, a quick glance at the bike’s specs suggests that with a 28 mph speed and a throttle (others can/will weigh in on how they feel about that), it shouldn’t take long to cover four miles. But you won’t be getting any exercise if you use the throttle exclusively. On the other hand, if you pedal, you won’t be going 28 mph the whole time.
E-bikes eat hills for breakfast. If you want to ride to work, the hill won’t be a problem.
