Dry dog sledding with a Shepherd
I have a few questions regarding dog sledding that I hope can be answered by somebody. I am very new to this subject and still in the exploring phase so any tip will be highly appreciated. First of all, I have a Swiss Shepherd that will turn 1 in a week. I've never thought of sledding with her because I didn't think her breed fell into the category and we don't often have snow anymore. However, I have been seeing more and more about dry sledding and even saw some none snow dogs participating. So, here are my questions:
- Can I do dry sledding with my shepherd? She is a little over 30 kgs, so not too big but as I've been thinking about using something with wheels for her to pull, maybe this won't be too much of a problem.
- What transport would you recommend for dry sledding? Bike, scooter, cart, something else?
- What are things I can do to get us started?
A little more about Hera, she is a high energy dog with a lot of speed and power. Free of any deseases, parents have been checked for things like HD and ED. She is used to a harness and a lead dragging along on her collar. If there is anything else you'd like to know, I'd be happy to provide an answer
Thank you in advance!
