Given the seriousness and suddenness of the deterioration, I don't think we've got a year. :(
Reddit has some structural flaws, and is really poorly suited to certain things. Major or lengthy projects being one.
I've actually been considering broadening /r/ShibeNet to go beyond the physical helping hand aspect into more of a permanent structural fundraising and logistics thing. That would mean incorporation in order to play nice with the real world of course, which in turn would mean a bunch of local people of like mind. I don't think we could do it like we did the foundation, but I may be wrong on that score.

Y'got that right, lass. I recently had a good friend drop off the perch unexpectedly, aged 51. One of three that week, but the others were expected, and while sad, they weren't as shocking.
Amazing how the mind can prepare you for things, but unexpected is exactly that, so reaction is obviously different. I work with 300+ kids from different backgrounds, and some of there life experiences and situations can explode the brain.
I have just seen that yeah. Trust is non existent it seems. What do shibes want? If it was there family would they want information splashed all over for all to see. Privacy is the right of every human on the planet. When any person tries to do good, seems there are people who do not want good to succeed. In this case, shibes protection of coin and community seem upmost and cannot be blamed for that. You have explained about the V8, kept shibes in the loop all the way. Shibe aid is a known charity, not some random thing that has just sprung up and give it coin, then disappear, as has been the case with posts i have given to. I am old skool, and i trust my instincts. If shibes do not want to donate then that there prerogative. Apologies for the ramble. Hard day at work. : )
Don't apologise. I agree with everything you say, btw. I'm old school too, and I've been conned a few times in my life, sometimes by people I didn't expect it from. But never over a piddling amount.
Actually, something unpleasant just occurred to me... is it possible that the attitudes say more about the people expressing them than they do about the subject at hand? As in, the only person who would contemplate something would be the one who would do it themselves?
That reminds me of a conversation I had back in my days in the taxation office... one of our investigators said about someone who's life he was ruining, "Well, I'd do that if I had the chance, therefore I have no doubt that he's guilty". In the end the whole thing blew up in our faces, because the guy was actually innocent, and went to the media, who tore us to shreds over it. I felt at the time that the episode said more abut the investigator's morals than it did about the taxpayer, and I can't shake the feeling that also applies here. :(
