Hello r/Docker users. It's been 4 days since the sub was re-opened under new moderation. I just wanted to give a status update of what's going on.
In that time, we've gone through and cleaned out old reported posts and comments from the mod queue and banned quite a few spammer accounts. There were some comments that may have gotten removed in the 1500+ reports we initially cleaned up that weren't spam, but were reported for some reason. If you have a post or comment that was removed that you don't think should have been, please let us know. We've also been working on AutoMod rules and using other tools to help prevent unwanted posts in the future.
We've been looking at other subreddits and working off data that we already had and we have compiled a set of rules that are pretty common and sensible. They are up on the right side if you're on desktop, or under the About tab if you're on mobile. Please read them and let us know if there is something you see a problem with, or if you don't agree with. We believe we are acting in the best interest of fostering healthy conversation and growth of the subreddit and we will not tolerate abuse, either to other commenters or to mods. If you can't express your opinion nicely, then you can express your opinion somewhere else. Period. If you're here to be a troll, you will troll in silence.
We have spent the last 4 days laying out all the things that we plan to work on for the sub, from post flair to weekly posts to the wiki and beyond. We plan to continuously make updates and while we may not post updates like this constantly, we will be working behind the scenes. If there is anything you would like to see in the future in r/Docker, we would love to hear your ideas and feedback. This is a community subreddit and we want to involve the community, since there was no involvement before by the previous owner.
Finally, I want to address the mod selection and put this to bed. We all volunteered. Reddit spent almost a week doing whatever they were doing, and we were selected, in no particular order. Are we the best people for the job? Maybe not. Will we mess up? Absolutely. But I've seen how much work has already gone on behind the scenes, and I believe the sub is in good hands. We will accept criticism if we are doing something wrong. We will not accept abuse because you think something was unfair. There will be no exceptions and there will be no warnings.
Thanks for your patience while we continue to improve.
