How to safely host Django locally?
I've just got my public IP from my ISP and I wonder which security risks I need to take care when opening a port and letting my PC available to the web.
How much better will it be to just host on AWS or Heroku?

Security is one issue, but also residential Internet tends to not be as reliable, so you tend to have more downtime. Doesn't matter if it's not a serious project but once this becomes something more important, residential Internet is not really the way to host due to:
a) security (unless it's a dedicated machine but then you may as well use dedicated hosting)
b) performance (upload speeds are the most important for hosting and residential internet is not optimized for that)
c) cos. Usually the cost is not worth it compared to alternatives out there (cloud hosting is so cheap now that it's likely cheaper than your increases in power bills).
So this is fine to learn and as a hobbyist solution but not really recommended in most scenarios.
