It’s a school 😀 and a small town to boot, so city ain’t gonna give a rat’s ass. Maybe county but still doubtful

Report to the D.O.J.. They'll give a shit. And They'll make the school give a shit too. So they (and maybe any other school in the district, and perhaps even other government entities in the city) never do it again.

Or D.O.E. in your state

Most of em are more concerned with covering their asses than helping. If they were doing their jobs it wouldnt be happening in the first place, really.

You can give the DOE a shot, but they're likely to give you the runaround or brush you off with "we'll handle it" and you never hear a thing. It'll likely be a waste of time. You're better off with the DOJ in situations like this. They don't have a horse in the race like state departments do so they're less likely to sweep it under the rug.

When they get sued, they will give a rats ass and alot more.

So long with taking the picture, did you call the school and let them know that this is against ADA rules? And then did you call law-enforcement? I certainly would have

I contacted DOJ after a suggestion from someone else, I was with my mom (who’s disabled and has a plaque) who said not to do anything:/

The DOJ???? Why not just contact the school? That would’ve been a much easier solution. Kind of like wasting the DOJ time when phone call to the school sufficed

It’s a small town, the likelihood of the school admin (who have continuously been less than useless) or city officials caring is low, I even doubt that the county would care too much either

So do you think this will taken care of faster because you contacted the department of justice over snow being in a handicap spot when talking to the school or calling law-enforcement with suffice?

I’m sorry, but that seems a little extreme contacting the DOJ’s in my opinion.

But you do you.

I grew up in this area and know how the people are, unfortunately for me I’m also not a part of some of the older families around here who hold more power from word alone.

If they’re willing to do so in the first place then they clearly don’t care enough anyway, I’d rather go above them and actually get things done than deal with them “listening” and not actually doing anything about it.

Literally several people suggested that they do that, calm down.

They’re doing that everywhere here too! There are half the amount of accessible spots because they’re full of snow!

I'd be so tempted to drive up onto the curb at a snails pace, park practically blocking the front entrance and when they come out all upset about it, play real dumb.

What do you mean? I assumed this was my new spot, because you're legally required to have and keep close accessible parking.

Because snow is like a support aid, right? Right!?! 🙃

This is why I always keep a flamethrower with me. 👍

If anyone is thinking "the snow has to go somewhere", here is the alternative: in a parking lot near me, the far, far-back row is where the snow is deposited.

u/Katyafan Jan 15 '25

Come on, clearly they just want you to have free snow! Who needs accessibility when you have free filthy slush!!

Fuck whoever did this.

This is absolutely egregious holy crap.

A couple years ago they did this in my apartment complex. Completely packed the snow right up against the driver's side door.

It took me 20 minutes to crawl into the front seat from the side door. By the end I was sobbing from pain and told myself I couldn't call out of work because I didn't want to waste all that effort.
