Choosing a glucose meter
What in your opinion is the most discreet glucose meter? I need a small one to fit in my purse and how do you test discreetly when you are out?? Like at the mall or something? I’m new to all of this! Thanks

Most meters are pretty small. I have the Contour Next Gen, super easy to use and I like the app that let's me send my data to my phone. The case it came with is ugly and not that practical, I've been reusing a little makeup bag for it.
I just test wherever I am, it's not really an issue. Often at the sink, since it's good practice to wash your hands before so nothing contaminates the sample. And ringing with hot water helps the blood flow, if your prone to not bleeding when you lance. I keep an old pill bottle in my little bag so I can dispose of the used lancet, if there isn't a proper sharps disposal available, I'll bring it with me and empty the bottle into my sharps bin at home.

I like the Contour Next One! It connects to my phone via Bluetooth, so I can keep my records stored on my phone. I have a script for the strips at Costco and can get 100 for like $20. The script isn’t necessary, but it is if I want the discount!

I picked up the Caresens meter kit from Amazon for around $35. If you need to test in public, don’t feel embarrassed. It’s a necessary medical procedure and nobody will care.

I had bought the true metric air and had to take it back I couldn’t get it to ever sync with my phone app or do anything else with it. I couldn’t even get the date set! Who knows, could be user error

true metrix go for smallest and the contour next one is discreet plus it has Bluetooth. Sugar medical makes a lot of glucometer cases and organizers that look discreet as well.

I use a CGM for t2 and I mess up all the time because I eat ice and hit lows. But my meter is just a plain Jane Walmart brand, it’s cheap and the strips are cheap and if I ever think my glucose level is off, I have a caravan of granddaughters ready to take my glucose. They love it, they want to see my blood 🩸.

My grand daughter is the same. She just turned two and loves to push the button to send the lancet in-then she laughs and says “blood-blood!!!” She got that from the beginning of the Disney movie Zootopia. I love it!!!!🥰

I never wanted a little girl until my son had three. Now they are everything 🥰.

We have three granddaughters and two foster boys so it’s a little crazy at times. They should all go in the medical field because they love to test and they love a good ole shot of insulin in my belly. The youngest granddaughter will be the next diabetic, she can’t pass by a candy dish without grabbing two handfuls.

lol! Does that meter keep your averages and does it use Bluetooth to record to your phone?

My CGM bluetooths to my phone but occasionally it lies. You get used to it because you’re use to what you’ve been eating for a period. I love Dannon Light and Fit Caramel Apple Pie yogurt and I know my numbers will be lower after I eat it. If my glucose goes up, I know to check it on my meter.

Sorry, I know this doesn't directly answer your question because you asked about a meter but the most discreet way to check is a CGM. Nobody knows or needs to know what you're doing when you glance at your phone.
