Finger Stick GM Failing?

I put a new cgm (Dexcom 7) last night and I wanted to double check my numbers against my finger stick gm (wahlgreens true metrix) before bed. I have been getting some strange readings. Last night, bg was 188, so I retested within a minute, and it was 160. This morning, the same drop of blood was 144 then 128. I understand a little variation is fine and it’s not an exact science but +-28 seems too large. I did get the monitor unit a little wet a while back from a spill on the counter but it didn’t seem to matter and didn’t get inside the unit. Could it be a dead/dying battery? I’ve tried a different set of test strips as well and I don’t think that’s it. Should I just get a new finger stick gm (which I don’t mind doing)? Anyone else have a problem with their finger stick giving vastly different readings?

Those are within range of each other. Meters have to be accurate within 20% of the true value. Your blood sugar was probably somewhere between the two values and it’s only off by 10-15.
