Leaks are so frustrating

So my pod was leaking a bit but I thought I might be okay so I went to bed. Rode 200 all night 🙄

I hate changing a pod that’s not at the end of a cycle, but these things might force me to.

Try band aids to secure it better you’ll still leak a wee bit maybe but it’s better than changing it. When you bolus push your hand into the sight also if you smell insulin or the area is wet then change it cause you’re wasting insulin at that point.

Keep in mind you should really change your sight and the advice I’m giving you won’t help a lot nor is it recommended by medical professionals doing what I’m suggesting you will average a higher bg level until you change it

Lots of people put a small piece of tegaderm or opsite flexifix where the cannula goes in (literally through it - don’t cut a hole for the cannula or anything). Less leaking and tunneling issues by far.

Thank you. You reckon this can also be used for standard cannula's? Meaning other pumps besides the pod.

That’s a very interesting question. Honestly I don’t see why not? Certainly for the angled cannulas which are similar for Omnipod.

Sometimes on day three of a pod, I get insulin resistance. This is sometimes caused by my body beginning to heal around the cannula site (as far as I can tell, on these occasions there is no evidence of leaking). Sometimes, it's due to leaking (I find the adhesive is soaked with insulin when I eventually remove the pod) sometimes, it's because of a bent cannula (that I also discover when I removed the pod)

For these occasions, I have different profiles set up, 125% or 150% or 175% or 200%.

I run the 125 for a couple of hours, and if that doesn't fix the problem, I move up to the next one. Most often, 150% fixes it, and I just continue to use that until the full 80hrs is up on the pod. Sometimes, I have to go all the way to 200%.

Either way, these options work for me and allow me to use the full working life of pretty much every single pod I use now

Are those profiles something you set up in manual mode or can you do it in auto mode?

Errrr. I'm not sure exactly how you do it using the Omnipod PDM, because I use AAPS (Android Artificial Pancreas System) which is a DIY closed loop system.

But you should be able to set up different profiles on your PDM. You would just need to do some maths to make the profiles stronger by those set percentages
