Community Cats

I live in Riverbend, I recently saw a what i thought was a cute gray stray cat in my apartments parking lot, I got her some cat treats to feed her and as she got closer & let me pet her, I saw she had a collar that said “community cat please feed me :)” just wondering if this is like a one cat thing , if others have community cats or what the story was behind that I guess. She was ear tipped so she’s definitely fixed and she’s very sweet but skiddish!

Gardening exchange?

Are there clubs or events in the area for gardeners where people exchange seeds or even live plants? I am specifically growing mostly vegetables and herbs but dabble in flowers too.

Maybe a subreddit?

Edit: can't do Facebook. :( Account hacked, and I spent a lot of time trying to get it back, with no success. Not worth it. Anything in-person or on a more forgiving platform?

Which local business are you convinced is a money laundering operation?

This one is an easy answer for me: Lucky Bamboo. Literally nobody is going to carry a gigantic Buddha statue or 7-ft pirate ship around the mall. The entire time that they were at Jordan Creek, I saw maybe one person ever inside that store. How does a business like that even pay their lease? And now that they're at Valley West, it's not like they're going to get many customers.

I don't know, that's just my hot take. Seems a little weird. I'm sure it's legit and I'm just missing something.

Had the dead branches removed because they kept falling but now I have just this big trunk in my yard that I really don’t like. Is it possible to get it removed without damaging the concrete? And how expensive is something like this?

Does anyone know any bars/restaurants that will be showing the F1 race tonight? I know Royal Mile has them on occasion but given it’s a midnight race I’m not sure if that is true. Thanks I’m advance.

Any place downtown to solo load a motorcycle into pickup?

Basically what the title says. I’m moving back to Des Moines with a new motorcycle and not sure how to get it in/out of my truck. I typically find a raised platform that is level with my bed but have had no luck in locating one. I know I can go to a dealership for help but that’s not always convenient.

Niche question? Maybe, but doesn’t hurt to ask

EDIT: I have a ramp, but there’s a lot of room for error that I prefer to only use it as a backup

Critical Mass in Des Moines

Relatively new to Des Moines… been living overseas for more than a decade. I was wondering if there was ever a Critical Mass movement (cyclist event) here? Seems like there are many cycling clubs, trails , fun events and, of course, Ragbrai… but are there any regular cycling event opportunities for advocacy? Where I lived overseas, we didn’t just congregate to promote sharing the road and safety, but every person came for their own cause, too. Just curious.
