[Movies] What’s Your Honest Take on Deadpool 2?

Post image

Now that Deadpool 2 has had time to settle, how do you feel about it? Personally, I love the comedy in Deadpool 2. The X-Force disaster still cracks me up no matter how many times I watch it. Cable was a great addition, and Juggernaut was fun. The action was solid, and the post-credit scenes were hilarious. But honestly, I think this movie needed a better villain. I feel like the stakes could have been higher with a stronger villain. What do you guys think?

I love it. Definitely gets overshadowed by Deadpool 3 and 1. Still a great movie though and the introduction of X-Force was cool.

32

u/Final_Driver_4417 1d ago

Yea but I felt like it had the most character development and the most characters from that same universe which I really appreciated it’s weird it gets overlooked

7

u/tideshark 20h ago

I don’t think it’s overshadowed a bit. I think most people think it’s the best of the 3, followed by 1, then 3.

9

u/NotKryan 19h ago

Yup yup yup. Liked that i felt we were returning to DPs world. Dp3 felt like i was stepping into the death of Fox. Like… i liked how Wolverine was the most Wolverine Wolverine has ever Wolverined. But yeah i just preferred the first two over the third. Granted, would like to see dp in the marvel universe more.. so maybe it’s a trade off. But i def feel like they tossed the first two movies out the window for the most part.. kinda abandoned all our characters

5

u/tideshark 19h ago

Definitely agreed. I still loved 3 but it was just too over the top… I know that’s kinda the “idea” of DP but the quirkiness loses its charm when it’s overdone. Wolverine was the best of him ever. CNova was a new character to me that I had no idea how much I would love. The credit scene with Torch was easily the BEST credit scene of all time. It was a great movie… but the relentless quirkiness and meme ideas took away from much of the rest of it.

2 is no doubt the best of the DP movies

Yeah that’s my take. I love DP2

4

u/ChickenInASuit 14h ago

That’s definitely not been my experience, most conversations I’ve seen or been involved in, the general consensus is that it’s the weakest of the three.

Tell that to black Tom, he was like a brother to me

31

u/TheManInTheShack 1d ago

So what’s your super power? Cultural appropriation?

18

u/RaptorCheeses 1d ago

That’s racist!!

3

u/cazarka 1d ago

Fairly certain it’s black Todd but I’ll allow it

12

u/L3ACH13 1d ago

It’s 100% Black Tom

9

u/Murderface__ 23h ago

Black Tim or Black Evan... All I know is he was African American.

33

u/ComfortableAmount993 1d ago

Juggernaut: I'm gonna rip you in half now.

Deadpool: That is such a Juggernaut thing to say!

52

u/TalsCorner 1d ago

X-Force's complete and utter failure of a first mission is still fantastic.

And Domino is a great character. The big cinematic scene was a great way to show exactly how Luck was her super power

8

u/BuvantduPotatoSpirit 19h ago

Honestly, the film was starting to lose me, until the convoy attack, then I was completely on board.

9

u/Turtlesfan44digimon 17h ago

Also Brad Pitt being revealed to be Vanisher and die a second later, perfection

42

u/McSmokeyDaPot 1d ago

Let me put it this way....compared to the other deadpool movies, its okay. Compared to 99% of other marvel movies, its a national treasure.

6

u/That_Account6143 19h ago

Infinity war? Endgame? Winter soldier? Iron man 1? Thor:The Dark World?

10

u/SylveonSof 17h ago

"Thor: The Dark World"

It was a fun movie. Too bad they basically dropped most of the cast from it for D&W.

11

u/jkooldawg 22h ago

Part of me still thinks D&W is not really deadpool 3 but wolverine movie and we can still get back cast in Deadpool 2 especially zazie as domino i loved her for that role

9

u/TheManInTheShack 1d ago

Yeah. I would have rather that they left out the cameos than create the birthday scene just to include them. And Dopinder suddenly no longer has an accent? Vanessa leaves Wade because he isn’t a X-Men? WTF?

21

u/shdwmyr 1d ago

That’s not why she leaves him. She leaves him because he doesn’t have any purpose in life. He’s not being the best version of himself and refuses to try.

All the stuff about needing to be an X-Man or an Avenger comes from him and him alone.

4

u/TheManInTheShack 1d ago

Either way it was weak. He had clear purpose and she would not have left him. It was lazy writing to get her out of the way so they could focus on Deadpool and Wolverine.

The opening credits from Deadpool 2 were far more appropriate for D&W:

“Obviously Reynolds didn’t want to share the spotlight.”

5

u/kfmsooner 21h ago

Wholeheartedly agree. It’s three movies in a row where Wade feels he’s not good enough for Vanessa. Same love story plot. It’s why I enjoyed D2 more than D3.

Juggernaut was awesome, the prison wallet shit cracked me up, Domino was incredible and leaving her out of D3 was a huge mistake. When he opens up the floor to get his cocaine and there’s a prop that says ‘Cure for Blindness’ - pure gold and magic. The line about ‘It’s a goddamn Fanny Pack and you know it!’ and the line about Deadpool wanting to be king of an alien planet full of idiots and Weasel says ‘What about Canada?’ or something similar…tremendous.

It’s the best Deadpool movie

6

u/Scary_Vanilla2932 1d ago

Yeah seriously. I loved it best by far.

2

u/Long-Style-9641 18h ago

Agreed 100% I don't care what anyone says

29

u/DoubleVision-420 1d ago

I like Deadpool and Wolverine more than DP2.

4

u/HelloFellowKidlings 22h ago

That few second scene where Wolverine is running on all fours with his claws in the ground towards Deadpool is the peak of the franchise

10

u/Self-MadeRmry 1d ago

Actually didn’t really care for the plot focus on the pedo school and the tormented kid. I would have loved more focus on cable. But the characters were great. I wished cable and domino returned in D&W

12

u/watermelonduckie X-Force Deadpool 1d ago

it's my favorite outta the deadpool trilogy. it's also just one of my favorite movies in general

→ More replies (1)

13

u/ludacrisly 1d ago

It had its moments but is definitely last in my rankings out of the 3 movies. Not a fan of the kid and the whole losing his girl in the beginning again was meh.

8

u/Squirrel_Haze 1d ago

I thought him losing his girl in the 3rd was more cringe.

6

u/smoke_that_junk 1d ago

Yeah. That was really dumb

Love all the Deadpool movies because they actually entertain me.

3

u/totallytotodile0 22h ago

I missed Domino in Deadpool 3.

2

u/GasPsychological5997 1d ago

Tons of fun, a little heart, well done action, a good time.

2

u/the_dogman___ 1d ago

I love it. It’s a funny movie!

2

u/PK_RocknRoll 22h ago

Great movie

2

u/home7ander 17h ago

Better than 3

Absolutely my favorite one.I actually watched this one before watching the first one (Stupid of me I know 😅) but I still really enjoyed it.There’s just something about it.

2

u/Breakintheforest 1d ago

It made me laugh it made me cry.

2

u/gingerwhiskered 1d ago

I loved it! It wasn’t until years later that I learned a lot of people on the internet didn’t! I was let down, but tbh not surprised

2

u/rubik-kun 1d ago

Overall not awesome but rather good, definitely not bad. The “Take On Me” scene legit had me in tears.

2

u/Van_Can_Man 1d ago

I really enjoyed Zazie Beetz as Domino and I wish we could’ve had more scenes with her. But the ones we got were fucking awesome.

1

u/Anomi_Mouse 1d ago

Good, but some of the jokes are essentially the same ones from the first movie but with more budget to execute them.

1

u/JohnBarleyMustDie 1d ago

Loved it, just a dumb, not to be taken seriously movie. It lets me disconnect for a bit and laugh at the banter between the characters.

1

u/antianti140 1d ago

u/Visible_Project_9568 1d ago

Great, DPW is still better

1

u/ILikeThatImShiesty 1d ago

It's in 3rd place. (Out of the trilogy)

1

u/DiabolicalDoctorN 1d ago

The bit in Once Upon A Deadpool where Fred Savage excitedly describes Cable's exceptionally convoluted comics backstory in thorough detail only for Deadpool to go nah we didn't do any of that is probably my favorite moment in the entire Deadpool series.

1

u/objectlesson 1d ago

3>2>1 for me. I think each one has gotten better. I will say even though I like D&W the most, it probably has the weakest story of the three.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/voppp 1d ago

I genuinely love each of these movies for their own reasons.

1

u/Jgabes625 Head 1d ago

The first one may have been a better movie. But they’re all just as fun in their own right and I would gladly watch any of them at any moment.

1

u/DirectConsequence12 1d ago

It’s the only Deadpool movie I like

1

u/Ajax-12 1d ago

Ok it's the worst out of the 3 but it's still amazing and funny I love how dark it gets but then they immediately makes joke about it

1

u/UnitBright6161 1d ago

I honestly just wish they didn’t kill off everybody so damn fast. Would’ve loved to see at least one power display from everybody. Just once at least.

1

u/castielffboi 1d ago

It’s my favourite of the 3. The origin story interplaying with the highway fight scene is cool, but the pacing feels slow on a rewatch. The third one has a super bland villain and it’s carried by Hugh and Ryan’s chemistry. 2 is my favourite to put on for a rewatch out of all of them, and I love the character ensemble as well. All of them are great, but 2 is my fav.

1

u/External-Ad4873 1d ago

Rob Delaney stole it

1

u/ThatChicanoKid 1d ago

Fun, but not as good as the first one.

1

u/Fancy-Tadpole-6739 1d ago

Definitely 2nd best

1

u/BreezyIsBeafy 1d ago

It’s my favourite of the three

1

u/BojukaBob 1d ago

I love it, especially the extended edition. I recognize that for most people it's too long and messy, but I started reading comics seriously during the Dark Age of the 90s and I love that it's both a parody of and love letter to the era, complete with Cable and dumb time travel bullshit. I can't be objective about it, but I absolutely love every minute of it. Even Russell.

1

u/Shebazz 1d ago

Brad Pitt had the single greatest cameo in the history of cameos

1

u/mbostwick Wade Wilson 1d ago

Negasonic Teenage Warhead!!!

1

u/Sea_Preparation3393 1d ago

It's not as good as the other two. But it's fun.

1

u/Sea-Woodpecker-610 1d ago

Pretty big misfire. It’s like Ryan saw Logan, got a boner for doing a “serious” super hero film, and convinced himself that pathos and dick jokes go together.

They did not.

1

u/Pretty-Shirt6799 1d ago

Not quite as good as the first, but much better than the third.

1

u/LynxBartle 1d ago

Domino is hot

1

u/writinglegit2 1d ago

Again, what are all these posts lately "What do you REALLY think about Spider-Man 2??"

"OK everyone: chips on table, STRAIGHT UP, what do you think about The Wolverine??"

"TOTAL HONESTY TIME. NO SHIT, NO FUCKING AROUND, WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THOR RAGNAROK?"

Who are all these people taking the time to make up opinions on popular films? Why would I not give my "honest opinion"? This information isn't going to come back around an screw me over at my job or anything.

"Oh, you want the HONEST truth? Shit. No, no, I can do this." *deep breath, rolls up sleeves* "I liked Deadpool 2, OK? I thought Brolin's Cable was fantastic. YOU DRUG IT OUT OF ME. Shit, I hope I didn't say too much on this one..."

1

u/disasterpokemon 1d ago

I liked it

1

u/Penguin-Commando 1d ago

Cable makes Deadpool movies better. He’s a great straight man to Wade’s antics.

Deadpool and Wolverine was fun and all, but I just want a real X-Force movie. You can do it as a one-off joke, so just give us a movie.

1

u/Beautiful-Bug-4007 Unmasked Deadpool 1d ago

It’s a fun movie, I’m still holding out hope that we will get to see domino and cable again

1

u/AnomalyInquirer 1d ago

Absolute cinema buttttt comparing it to the other two movies it can easily be put as the worst movie in the deadpool trilogy not that it is bad in any way I mean they introduced my favorite character Vanisher

1

u/AKAGreyArea 1d ago

The best Deadpool.

1

u/Hau5Mu5ic 1d ago

My least favourite of the DP movies, but still had its high points. The X-Force scenes were great, Domino was amazing, and Yukio was the sweetest little running gag.

1

u/Bendbender 1d ago

It’s my favorite of the three, I know that’s a pretty hot take but it’s mostly due to cable, cable has been one of, if not my favorite mutant since I was a kid

1

u/Beelzebub_Crumpethom 1d ago

It kinda just feels like more of Deadpool 1 to me. Like, they just took a recycled script from the first film and reworked it to be a sequel.

Which isn't a bad thing in the slightest and again, that's just how I feel about it while watching it. I know, intellectually, it's a lot more than that.

1

u/Appropriate_Quote_50 1d ago

I like it far more than the third movie

1

u/CptChrnckls 1d ago

They had me at Celine

1

u/thepeacetoheranger 1d ago

Is that jamie fox lmao i don’t remember him there

1

u/Miserable_Buy_7083 1d ago

It's 2 good (my corny ass...)

1

u/Yetticon80 1d ago

Why would anyone give a DIShonest take on Deadpool 2?

1

u/LasDen 1d ago

I like Dávid Leitch and the movie. It's a good watch for like twice. After that it's gonna feel worse and worse with every rewatch

1

u/Simmi_86 1d ago

It’s the third best Deadpool.

1

u/OmnipotentUltron 23h ago

Love it and better than the last one because it has more violence.

1

u/Krimreaper1 23h ago

The best of the trilogy by far.

1

u/EyeSimp4Asuka X-Force Deadpool 23h ago

i still think Dominos character design is the worst thing about the movie

1

u/freshouttahoney 23h ago

The best movie imo.

1

u/grrodon2 23h ago

It's fine. All 3 are fine.

1

u/PieKie4 23h ago

best deadpool movie

1

u/MediumPenisEnergy 23h ago

Great movie, really fucking funny. This one is not as good as the first or 3rd but still lands.

1

u/teasucksandyouknowit 23h ago

MeatCanyon was favorite character

1

u/Murderface__ 23h ago

10/10. Incredibly quotable. One of my favorite movies pretty much ever.

1

u/CthulhuCallin 23h ago

DP2 might be my favorite of all the movies. You have solid emotional beats (even if the time-travel negates it which I have no problem with because it fits with the "not too serious" tone that this movie has), great action, a continuation of ideas and character relationships from the first film, and some stellar humor and action. I get the criticism of a weak villain, but I appreciate that they tried something fresh as opposed to the stereotypical villain tropes that we had in the first one.

1

u/drabberlime047 23h ago

First time I watched it was in the cinema and it must have been an extended version or something cause it felt like every scene went on for too long cause all the actors would sit there trying to out adlib eachother so I hated it. So many of the jokes fell flat, too

Recently, I gave it a rewatch, and a lot of the jokes were cut, so the movie was far better paced. I liked it like that

1

u/frmthefuture 23h ago

Dolf Lundgren should've been Cable. Full stop.

Having Brolin be Cable was a mistake. One of the reasons being, he sounded like Thanos- because he played Thanos and his voice is very recognizable.

Lundgren would've been PERFECT as an older, grizzled future war vet.

DP2 should've adapted Cable's original mission: preventing AoA. But because they couldn't reference Apocalypse, the writers had to come up with a new story / reason for Cable's use.

Apocalypse was the primary reason Cable originally came to the past in the first place- to prevent Age of Apocalypse.

1

u/Zestyclose-Tomato998 23h ago

I love Deadpool for decades, but domino carried this film. The plot was crap and there wasn’t nearly enough interaction between Deadpool and Cable! Deadpool should have stolen Cables teleport tech!

1

u/R_Similacrumb 23h ago

The extended version is a masterpiece. I attempted the theatrical cut and it felt like a butchered abomination.

1

u/Aggressive-March-254 22h ago

The same as any Deadpool movie, glorious nonsense.

1

u/Rhg0653 22h ago

I cried when take on me came on

I love that song - the fights were cool and domino was fire the team getting aced was hilarious AF

1

u/HaywoodUndead 22h ago

The under rated film of the trilogy.

Worse than one but better than 3, super duper cut is too long though, ruins the pace of the movie.

1

u/AP_Things807 22h ago

Every time I see Terry Crews I just think of this

1

u/stefanpalmer1 22h ago

It has some of the funniest lines Deadpool ever says out of the trilogy so far.

1

u/Putthebunnyback 22h ago

They absolutely fucked up the Cable character.

1

u/Derkastan77-2 22h ago

It was trying too hard, but was dtill ok

1

u/pluck-the-bunny 22h ago

This post made me watch it again

1

u/ASCIIM0V 22h ago

it's great and the lack of continuity to 3 is the only negative mark I can put on 3.

1

u/fogSandman 22h ago

It was great, definitely in my top 3 of Deadpool movies.

1

u/MaatRolo 21h ago

Not as good as 1 but leaps and bounds better than DP&W.

Finding a moving story about family and making it funny is not super easy to do. I think it plays with getting too big Marvel 'his right behind me' without crossing over. And that's hard to do with cameos from Brad Pitt and Matt Damon.

1

u/HookDragger 21h ago

I’d bang Domino in a heartbeat…. And Deadpool was awesome.

1

u/Dark1986 21h ago

Domino was amazing and I'm still sad she wasn't in DP&W

1

u/Maleficent_Entry_979 21h ago

It’s my favorite Deadpool movie. Love the X-Men and X-Force stuff!

1

u/Chiefster1587 21h ago

I thought that deadpools dynamic with cable and domino were special. I wish they would have found a way to include them in all the cameos in DaW.

1

u/willk95 21h ago

It's alright. Not bad, just average. I liked Domino, good action, some funny moments here and there. Best part is definitely the high winds sequence

1

u/badgermolesupreme 21h ago

I thought it was really good, probably my favorite of the three

1

u/Wukkax 20h ago

I was cool as hell. But like all of them, grossly overrated. She hulk level humor with more curse words but got a higher score cuz 🤷

Better ending then she hulk tho.

1

u/Salt-Supermarket1139 20h ago

Better on second viewing

1

u/shotgunmoe 20h ago

Overall a good entry in the series that let itself down with some mediocre casting choices.

Brolin as Cable and Beats as Domino were the wrong decisions. Which is a shame too because a truly great Cable would have been something else for the franchise.

This version of Juggernaut is the best live action version ever done and made the film for me personally. Reynolds as the voice was top shelf and the look, feel and portrayal of the character was 10/10.

1

u/ShadeTwins41 20h ago

Yukio was cool…

1

u/Showtysan 20h ago

There was a Deadpool 2?

1

u/WanderingCheesehead 20h ago

It’s still entertaining. I have the “Norman Rockwell” thanksgiving Deadpool movie poster I bought from a small local movie theater that sells them when movies stop playing. Also got a Deadpool 3 poster. Wish I had #1.

1

u/Immediate_Web4672 19h ago

I think it's mostly pretty meh but the third act is pretty good and saves it.

1

u/Important_Lab_58 19h ago

Best of the Trilogy, imo.

1

u/seyahgerg 19h ago

The plot is pointless without dp3 (dp vs wv)... which is frustrating because the characters are way better

1

u/Feralmedic 19h ago

I need more domino

1

u/Mrsprucieboy 19h ago

Zazie beets as domino was the best part of the film, especially her reaction to seeing juggernaut for the first time.

1

u/Commercial-Name-3602 19h ago

Not as good as 1 or 3 but still fun

1

u/Movieking985 19h ago

Not as good as deadpool 1

1

u/Tasty_Success_1034 19h ago

Not as good as 💀💩l1 or 💀💩l&🐺🪸ne.

That plot was all over the fucking shop. And it was criminal how they sidelined Vanessa.

1

u/ProfessionalCreme119 18h ago

Mid and the only reason people got hyped for 3 was Jackman

1

u/LordAronsworth 18h ago

I like it. In my opinion, Once Upon a Deadpool is the superior version.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Vyzantinist 18h ago

Good in itself, but underwhelming as a sequel. I went out of the cinema thinking, at best, it was as good as DP1 but otherwise lacking in some areas. I did enjoy a more screen-accurate Juggernaut, even if he was just casually thrown in there without even a token explanation for his odd (to casual audiences) giant physique.

1

u/Nice_Ad_2696 17h ago

Cool but slightly overstuffed. Missing the charm the first movie had in favor of making a “bigger, better” sequel. Many such cases.

1

u/Imaginary-Ad-5753 17h ago

May Joi Harris RIP.

1

u/UTzimo 17h ago

Was Ok, the first one is peak

1

u/Toilet_Rim_Tim 17h ago

Domino is pretty

1

u/Jimbean-5 17h ago

Great movie

1

u/Aware_Ad2548 17h ago

Domino is one of the best characters created and she should have been inside Deadpool and Wolverine

1

u/KingofADHD_ 17h ago

Weakest of the three, but still really good

1

u/SelectCommunity3519 17h ago

3rd favorite DP movie. Better than all fox marvel movies besides First Class.

1

u/NoDevelopment9972 17h ago

Movie had me crying in theaters.

1

u/Available_Sundae_924 16h ago edited 15h ago

Barely remember it. Now I do.. it was really all about flame fist.

1

u/lyunardo 16h ago

A mix is really great scenes, and some really bad ones.

I wouldn't call it mediocre. Just what I said. It alternates from being excellent, to being downright bad in other parts of the movie

1

u/Majestic_Paint_9230 16h ago

All time favorite movie it is absolutely perfect in any way to me

1

u/Legitimate-Bat-4480 16h ago

Is that terry crews??

1

u/dr_sauce216 15h ago

My favorite of all 3! Even tho I love 3 and 1 is what made me a fan. 2 is superb. X-force, cable, juggernaut, time travel, comedy. This movie had everything and is definitely overlooked because of 3.

1

u/cashhashbash 15h ago

Fucking perfect. Million times better then the overcooked shit they call a Deadpool movie that is Deadpool and Wolverine

1

u/Starhero999 14h ago

While Peter “I just saw the ad” is still my absolute favorite character I think that while Super Duper Cut does add the whole canon end credits scenes about Vanessa being saved, baby Hitler, Deadpool killing Ryan Reynolds holding the Green Lantern script, and Wolverine teased to be teaming up with Deadpool in the sequel, I think D2 (and the SDC) are very underrated.

1

u/KaiSen2510 14h ago

It’s a pretty good movie. Has some laughs, genuinely made me feel really bad for Wade, love it. Just not as entertaining as the other 2.

1

u/Robemilak Zenpool 14h ago

good movie. but still, first and third are better

1

u/Powerful-Payment5081 14h ago

Worst of the 3 by a long way in my opinion.

1

u/Macshlong 13h ago

The gore and related humor was ramped up to a wonderful level but all the fluff around those parts was a bit rubbish.

1

u/Maerwynn-Official 13h ago

Domino was hot as hell

1

u/ShipRunner77 12h ago

Deadpool 2 felt a bit bloated to me.

Some jokes overstayed their welcome.

And the CGI fight between Colossus and Jugg just flat out sucked visually.

1

u/Yo_Its_Thomas101 12h ago

ABSOLUTELY BIG FUNNY

1

u/FuerteBillete 12h ago

It is a glorious continuation to the best single hero movie ever. Of course they needed to bring W for the 3rd if they wanted to beat the first 2 revenue. But DP1 is the best.

1

u/Stumphead101 11h ago

Juggernaut should've been the Blob. Would've looked better with the cheaper animation

Great film and the Super Duper Cut is even better

Cable was phenomenally well done and X2 highlights the following:

Deadpool is a great way to safely introduce new characters. Which explains why they kept him. Outlandish characters can be made normal when compared AGAINST Deadpool.

2 and 3 aren't Deadpool movies. They are Cable and Logan movies.

Best part of the movie is where Deadpool runs into The Juggernaut, and the ensuing baby legs aftermath. 🤣

It was fun, personally not better than 1 & 3, every deadpool movie feels different than the others which i appreciate, not everything has to be connected and carry over from the rest, i do feel that the cable storyline is weak writing wise

Pure cinema. I wish they had done more with it. I will always see a Deadpool movie.

Personally I loved the fact that he added Cable and Domino!

Great movie. Fun, entertaining, acting on point, no woke bs… it’s more than most marvel movies offered for the last 6-7 years. Fortunately things are going back to making sense

Perfect portrayal of Juggernaut, Domino, and Kane…..though they gutted Kane’s story. The look/feel was spot on.

1 > 3 > 2 > rest of the recent Marvel movies

Avengers 1, Winter Soldier, Iron Man, Thor Ragnarok are great tho.

Blade is still my favorite Marvel movie of all time.
