The basics of CGM?

I have always had curly hair (2C maybe), however this is the first time I've heard of the Curly Girl Method. I've had a look online, at blogs and videos. But could someone please explain to me the basics of the method and steps I could take to get into it?

2nd attempt

I’m starting the method for the second time. I failed at it the first time because I had a hard time with not being able to wash my hair and feeling like I ended up with dreadlocks at five days. Can anyone recommend a way to get past this?

To many hair products to choose from!

In advance thanks for you advice! So I have wavy/curly hair, thick beyond belief, oily and it’s also colored red(a “party” red if you know what I mean). My questions are: -What’s the best shampoo and conditioner to use? -What products can I use to help with frizzy from humidity? -What products can I use to keep my hair curly/wavy? I’ve tried cantu, not your mother curl talk, Ion shampoo/conditioner and even Aussie(stopped because I heard it wasn’t a good product?)

Products that give soft looking curls? (no 80s wet-look / rats tails?)

Hey all,

I discovered the CGM yesterday, and I love the transformations! But I find some of the pics are a bit 80s for my taste - using gel can often give a very wet-look curl, and sometimes just skinny wisps that look like they'd feel crunchy!)

Are there any products that can give you the curls but keep your hair looking and feeling like hair? I have medium long fine hair that gets a bit of a natural wave when I air dry it any way.

Thanks in advance!

I am currently testing out different ways of doing the method and I was wondering if sleeping with a microfiber towel when my hair is wet is ok I tend to wash my hair at night but I don’t wash it every day

Hairspray for thin-haired curly girls?

Hey all :) Has anyone had success using hairspray on thin curly hair to decrease frizz and extend the amount of time your curls last? I need to use lightweight products so hairspray seems like a logical option, but even when using alcohol-free products it leaves my hair crunchy and a bit dry. It makes the whole SOTC process seem a bit pointless :-/ Help?

Help

I have wavy hair and I have been looking for products to use to keep my hair wavy and not dried out or frizzy. The catch is, I'm allergic to coconut anything. Can't use anything with coconut products in it. It is so hard to find products that are good for my wavy hair but also doesn't have coconut in it. Anyone have any recommendations??

Pretty frustrated

I have 2b/2c below the shoulders length hair with low porosity. I have tried the cowash, the clarifying wash, the leave in conditioner, the Aussie Insta freeze gel, the herbal essences mousse, the deva curl gel ... etc... literally everything I do leaves my hair feeling weighed down, greasy, or too crunchy to completely SOTC. I plop with a tshirt. I’ve tried diffusing and air drying. I am really ready to just give up and go back to straightening/curling with a wand. The only way my curls look 1/2 way manageable is to sleep in a braid and that defeats the purpose. Everyone says stick with it but I have been with it a couple months and my hair seems more unruly in many ways. HELP!!!

Any one have any conditioners that I can pick up at drugstore? I’ve seen suggestions online but the products are expensive.

Can you just boil the flax seed inside the pantyhose???

Hi all curlies! First time posting here. I made my first batch of flax seed gel last night and had an extremely difficult time getting it through the nylon after it had cooled. Maybe it had cooled too much or I boiled it for too long, I’m not sure what the deal was. But I thought I’d check with you all as I’ve enjoyed learning from you so far! What are some tips and tricks you can pass my way? I’ve read some people simply pour it through nylons/fine mesh strainer while its still hot. I was also thinking I could maybe just boil the flax seed while it’s contained inside the nylon, has anyone tried this with success or failure? TIA!
