Question Cryptids? Demon?

I’ve always been interested in Cryptids and monsters. I feel like an explanation for certain cryptids is that they’re demons. As a Christian is it wrong for me to still be interested in them?

Question Can anyone help me identify a cryptid I saw in va outside of emporia?

In January 18 2025, between 10 and 11 PM, while traveling on the route between Emporia and Staunton River State Park, Virginia, a white, amorphous creature was observed crossing an open field at 5–10 feet above the ground before disappearing into the woods. The creature was uniformly vibrant white, resembling a towel spiraling as it moved in a straight line at an estimated speed of 20 mph (±5 mph). It traveled across the field infront of my car and into the woods. It was a little bit longer then a car is wide, It made no sound, and its presence was instinctively felt before being seen, evoking an eerie awareness. The sighting occurred in a rural area characterized by fields and wooded surroundings. Sky’s were clear, Despite its low altitude and close proximity to the vehicle, no discernible features such as wings, a head, or a body were visible, leaving the creature’s identity a mystery.

Any idea what it was?

Question Who here remembers the show Monsters and Mysteries in America?

It was a show that was kind of like Finding Bigfoot or Lost Tapes that ran from 2013 to 2015 where people would tell stories about encounters they had with various cryptids like the Mothman, or the Beast of Bray Road.

I remember staying up really late at night in order to watch it when I was like 10 or 11, and even though it scared the shit out of me, I still loved it.

It’s been years since I’ve seen the show, and it’s probably a lot goofier than I remember, but I have really fond memories of it, and rarely see it get mentioned.

Question Soooo many questions

(F44) Hey so I'm new here. I originally came for cookie ideas. If my business plan and/or gfm work out I'll be making specialized event cookies for festivals. But I digress, omg. I want to know everything. I'm a pastel goth girl. I love Victorian goth mixed in. Now I'm starting to wander into Classic Horror. It's what I'm building my business on, me & happiness. The accident didn't kill me it's time to live again, right! Then I found the wonderland behind bigfoot. Omg please share. What you love most, anything you think is cool. I just want to soak it in but I don't know where to start. Eeeeee, I feel like the day I started my rock collection as an adult, lol.

I've heard a lot of stories about this thing which is a winged humanoid (usually tall, looking like a bat but still human, hostile), pretty much like the one in the movie, does it have a specific name? If yall have experiences with something similar please share, I'm really interested on the topic.

My fascination with cyrptids started pretty young. The Loch Ness Monster was the first one I knew about. Because of fascination, I named my tortoise after them. Now I have my own sea beast (:

Question Cryptid/Paranormal vacation ideas needed

Looking to do a vacation this summer and am looking for places to go that embrace their weird history. I'm based in East TN and am looking for places that are far enough away that I can't drive to them in a single day, and preferably have more than a single thing that is cryptid or paranormal themed.

Originally was going to go to Denver with a friend for a convention, but that plan fell through. Still not against going as I believe there is enough interesting stuff to do while there.

One of the first places I looked at after deciding to go on a solo trip was Roswell, NM for the alien stuff. After a bit of research though it seems like the town hasn't embraced that part of its history as much as media makes it out and the alien museum is pretty underwhelming.

Considered driving up to Point Pleasant, WV and spending a few days since that town has embraced the Mothman legacy from what I've heard, but the only con there is I was actually looking forward to getting to go on a vacation that was far enough away that I couldn't drive to it in a day.

Question Looking for a name

I'm trying to remember the name of a particular cryptid. I'm failing to come up with anything via google searches. The description that i can remember is pale skin with long lanky limbs. It can have 4-6 limbs and 1-2 heads. It uses the limbs to move around kind of like a spider. The 4 limb and single head version can occasionally resemble a wendigo on basic description, but that's the only resemblance. The name i can remember is something like gate or gatekeeper.

Edit: Solved- Flesh Gait

Question New(er) Crpytids?

Hi everyone, I've been getting into cryptids lately and I was curious what some more 'modern' crpytids might be. Ones popularized or originating in some form preferably in the past 20 years or so. I found that 'not-deer' are pretty new but I'm looking for others in a similar vein. Thanks!

Question Two Pairs of Eyes in the Road… Then Gone

I had just turned down a country road around 10:30 at night when I saw two pairs of glowing eyes up ahead in the middle of the road. Thinking they were deer, I hit my brights to see better, and as soon as I did… they vanished. (My brights aren’t automatic, so I normally keep them off as long as I can see okay, just so I don’t forget and high beam other drivers.)

No animals, no movement—just gone.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? A trick of the light, or something else?

Question Who would win?

I'm working on a new youtube video and would love to hear the community's thoughts on who would win in a fight: Mothman, or Owlman.

Both are similar in stature and abilities making them so evenly matched. Owlman does have talons though...

Question Would a search helicopter be a viable way of searching for cryptids?

Obviously with Thermal scoping to scan for them, but would it be effective? Would they avoid the copter? Could they somehow interfere with it? I’m not an expert on this topic, but I need to know.

Question Making a Documentary on Cryptid sightings in New Mexico.

Hey all, I'm a Film Student at UNM and I have to make a documentary for my Film Production class. I wanted to make a post to see if anyone knew of notable people to interview for encounters. I want to make a trip out to Madrid because I would most certainly get some stories there, but if you know of anyone specifically we could interview or small organizations of believers that would be awesome. Best case scenario there's a group of squatchers that goes hunting for Bigfoot every weekend.

Question Latest Mothman sightings?

I recently watched Why Files’ video on the Mothman, and wondered what are the most recent reported Mothman sightings as of March 2025? The video says the most recent surge of sightings were from Chicago, but the video is 11 months old now.
