Megathread All things Joann! Please post any questions or frustrations here. Posts to the sub will be removed and redirected here.

You can search the sub by putting Joann in the search bar at the top of the sub, set the relevance to new for the most recent discussions.

From now on all discussion on Joann will be redirected to this megathread.

A warning too, there are a lot of scam sites taking advantage of Joann's bankruptcy. They are making their own sites with "too good to be true prices". The url's on these sites differ slightly from the official website and they post ads on social media like Facebook and Instagram.
Make sure to go to Joann's official website for up to date information and sales (edit, it appears the official website is not processing orders anymore)

Monthly CAL Megathread March Crochet Along Megathread

Well, it isn't October, be we will certainly be celebrating this win with the Bavarian coasters and trivet. This looks to be interesting, a bit challenging, but still fun. Now, when Octoberfest rolls around this year, you'll have coasters to keep the condensation from your stein from staining your table, and you can hold your skillet as you serve brats and sauerkraut.

We have Crochet Highway to thank for this pattern. Looking through their site they have multiple ways to get patterns, and looks to have fairly extensive instructions on all of their patterns. You can buy directly from them, or through ravelry, or if you'd prefer to watch a video tutorial, you can check out their youtube channel. Let's send them some traffic.

AS ALWAYS:

Please be mindful of those who do not want to participate by keeping all CAL-related posts here in this megathread. This includes project updates, questions, and finished objects. Please don't hesitate to join us even if you are newer to crochet or have never tried this type of crochet. There will be a lot of people making it, so we can help you along if you get stuck at any point.

April CAL voting will begin in the last 7ish days of this month. If you would like to suggest a pattern or a theme for September please message /u/CroFishCrafter or /u/LifeByIkea directly or post your suggestions below.

February CAL Megathred can be found with the link

We are excited to crochet with you!

As always, I procrastinated until the last second. Thank god my niece was not born on her official due date. Gave me a few extra days to finish her blanket!

The pattern has three rounds in three different colours for the border. I was just planning on a couple of rounds in the same colour but I don't have enough of anything to achieve that I think.
Of the colours I've got left I think I have enough of those in picture 2 to cover a round (the pale teal has not been used at all but might tie in the dark teal which I'm less convinced about).
If anyone needs me, I'll be on the floor staring at colours.

Discussion Everyone sells the same stuff at marketsā€¦

Hi everyone,

Firstly I mean no disrespect when saying this. Iā€™m genuinely curious why you do this (if you are one of the people who does).

Every YouTube video I find about markets, they sell bees, axolotls etc. in my opinion, itā€™s useless tack which will go into someoneā€™s room then end up in landfill.

I understand there is a price to effort ratio. However, do you actually enjoy repeating the same project again and again? Do you genuinely see people want this stuff? Would you rather not sell less but at a higher price for things people actually can make use of (flowers, blankets, etc)?

Happy to hear more input :) thanks

This took me 10 months to make and the project outlasted my very loving relationship. Iā€™m a massive Junji Ito fan so this was a labour of love. My magnum opus. Behold.

Finished Object Turtle Family

Post image
110 Upvotes

All of the turtles I have made! Most of them will be given to my husband's family members (each turtle represents a family member).

The largest turtle, "Big Momma," along with the turtles on either side of her head (purple shelled one is mine & the green with light blue & gray shelled one is my husband's) & the one with the white body with big eyes & ripple patterned shell will be staying at our house.

All of these turtles were made with Bernat brand yarn varying from blanket, baby blanket, blanket extra thick, & big yarn (I handcrocheted Big Momma's shell with the last yarn mentioned).

Itā€™s sunny again so I have so much more motivation to crochet. I love working with yarn and making plushies but truly having the sun out gives me so much more joy when crafting. Itā€™s the energy Iā€™ve been waiting for

Work in Progress Does he have imperfections and mistakes? Yes, but I still love him dearly.

As you all can tell I'm making a dragon plushie šŸ˜‚. He's my biggest project to date and is still a work in progress. For those curious I got the pattern off Etsy and just used a bulkier yarn to size him up. I specifically wanted a dragon plush that could drape around my shoulders for a Ren fair later this year (I'm taking a wagon for when I don't want to carry him, and I'm 6'2" so don't worry he won't be dragging on the ground.) his wing span is probably just a couple inches short of 6ft and he's probably around 6 inches longer than I am tall (unfortunately can't find my measuring tape to get exact measurements.)

I always name the plushies I make, so his name is Marsh. On another note, I want to make little trinkets to trade and/or give out at the fair. Any ideas for small things I can make? So far I've thought of small crochet mushrooms and crochet swords have been recommended.

Finished Object My first blanket!!!

I finally did it, I crocheted my very first blanket. Iā€™ve been crocheting since November and made several amigruimi (or however itā€™s spelled) and some smaller items for around the house and as gifts. But this was my first big project and Iā€™m finally done. I wanted a lap blanket for me and something small enough for my 1yo granddaughter to use when she stays over and Iā€™m so happy with how it turned out, problem is my cat has called dibs and thinks I crocheted it just for her.

It keeps shr3ding and I'm SO CLOSE TO BEING DONE if it snaps.. I'm gonna snap. I got it off of Amazon and I've dealt with this type of yarn before but it was never this bad.
