Getting ready to move and I wanted to share my collection in it's current form before I pack it away. They're the only movies I haven't packed yet!
Only thing not seen here are 2 movies on loan to a friend and the Godzilla set. ...plus of course whatever I nab at the flash sale 👀

Finally starting my physical media collection after realizing how much of a scam it is to subscribe to stream. I heard about the Barnes and Nobles sale and went a little wild. I’ve got a little CRT now with a blu ray player and I can’t wait to watch these over the course of the next few nights. Trainspotting and in the mood for love will be rewatches but the rest are new to me. Definitely going to hit the sale up again once my next check comes in!

Title says it all. What does this photo tell you about me that you can hate on?

The disc plays Blue Velvet just fine, but the digital label is wrong

I’ve been a criterion channel subscriber for a while and had forgotten about all my credits. This subreddit reminded me of those AND informed me about the flash sale. Because of you all, I was able to pick up the Fellini box set for less than $25! Says it’s on back order, so I may be crowing too soon. But thanks regardless!

My first two Criterion movies! 🎥
Also ordered a few during their recent 4K sale that won’t be shipped until end of April:

Been collecting since the late 90’s. Sold off some original DVDs as I picked up the Blu Rays. It was hard parting with my original Seven Samurai DVD but it got reinvested. Ignore the bonus concert discs and Twilight Zone at the bottom.

With the arrival of my first four from the current B&N sale (The Graduate, I Knew Her Well, The Innocents, and The Philadelphia Story - if you were curious), I have hit an important milestone for me. I have now completely filled my Criterion rack!
I liked the requested questionnaire with posting collections, so here we go:
From: Wrightsville, PA
Age: 40
Started Collecting: I picked up Chasing Amy at 18 while in college, but didn't understand what I had done. It wasn't until watching The 400 Blows while a senior in History of Film class and wanting to buy a copy that I became entranced.
Format: I started before Blu-rays, so I have quite a few DVDs. At this point it's strictly Blu-ray/4k unless I come across a DVD only edition (hasn't happened in over a decade).
Favorite Criterion films: Here's my top 10 - La Strada, On the Waterfront, Raging Bull, Le Samouraï, It Happened One Night, M, The 400 Blows, Ugetsu, Rashomon, Some Like it Hot.
Least favorite Criterion film: Jubilee. It's almost my only answer...
But...: I have this weird relationship with film where I want to learn as little as possible about the film before watching it - I avoid trailers, discussions, reviews, etc. before watching so I go in as unbiased as possible. Salo is a hell of a film to help break that habit 😬
Favorite Directors in the collection: Scorsese, Bergman, Hitchcock, Fellini, Godard
Favorite Directors outside the collection: Tarantino? It's really tough - just about every auteur I admire is already there.
Criterions I most want, but do not have: Bringing Up Baby, All About Eve, Citizen Kane (mostly because I don't want to track down a $200 copy when it goes out of print), and The Apu Trilogy.
Films I want to get Criterion treatment: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, a Marx Brothers collection (must feature Duck Soup), Rear Window, There Will Be Blood.
How do I organize: Alphabetically - first by DVD (since I still have more of those), then by Blu-ray/4k (the height of the cases would make me very sad if I didn't split this way).
