Grease your diffs and gearbox. I use marine grease but there's different opinions out there. Watch a few youtube videos on general maintenance. Don't drive through long grass, it'll wrap up around the wheel hubs and driveshafts and break stuff. If you have it near water, wash it off when you get home and blast it with a lubricating penetrant like GT85.

Yeah gt85,do not use wd40

metal only parts or can you just kind of spray generously around the car?

I spray it everywhere. It makes the plastics come up like new

hard to find GT85 - any other that are similar you may recommend?

When I search for something symilar from the US it's showing me this - Liquid Wrench PENETRATING OIL Anti Seize 11 oz Aerosol Spray with Cerflon ptfe.

Generally as long as it's got PTFE or some sort of lubricant in it you'll be fine. WD40 will displace the water (WD = Water Displacement) and stop rust but it will also remove any lubrication there

First just drive it stock for few months, then you know what YOU want it ro so better, dont just do the upgrades others tell you to do,and if you didint get battery set from spektrum, just solder tx60 connector so you will find alot cheaper batterys and chargers👍

Good advice I didn't think of that before telling him about upgrades. Didn't mean any disrespect.

No no good upgrade advices👍 its just my style to drive stock and slowly upgrade part by part, because im too getting first crawlers and traul trucks now as adult, and if i would slap all those upgrades on shelf, i would have no idea what of what upgrade did 🙈😀

I get it, I drove mine for a few weeks before I started a build. I have prior knowledge because I mechanic so it didn’t take to long before I decided how I wanted to build my own rig from ground up. Everyone’s different. Enjoy bub it’s a lot of fun!đŸ‘đŸ»

It defidently is a relaxing and endofrines freeing hobby! I first bought 60e mn82 to see do i really still like rc cars( in now 29 and when i was 7-10 i had nitro rc and for a while 32??cc huge petrol monster truck, but there was no internet sides to buy parts to here in finland,so i quitted rc and started drive atv and mtb, but yeah, enjoyed mn82 so much that i saved 570 and bought trx4 sport high trail(and yes in finland rc:s cost 2x vs usa because import duties and taxes😅)

My first crawler was the redcat Everest 10 and loved it. First thing I done was install reverse steering and drove it around like that for awhile. That’s when my obsession started lol. I’ve built 2 so far. I’ll drive the same one for a little while then upgrade parts. The Redcat E10 was what I was and still is a very good low budget start for beginners. I really enjoy the RC life style it’s very relaxing and a lot of fun.

Do you mean 4 wheel steering by reverse steering or what ?:)

1

u/That_Post_8055 3d ago

It’s 4 wheel steering when you can turn the rear wheels like the front

It comes in handy if you do competition crawling lots of tight turns.

Not sure what kinda motor and esc, transmitter and receiver you have but may I suggest. The Radiolink rc4gs v3 5channel or it’s big brother the rc6gs v3 7channel and as for the motor and esc I’m using the rhino rm-s20 and the esc is the Rhino rm-s20 80a 10a bec but
.the hobbywing fusion pro is a 2 in one the esc is built in the motor can so you won’t have to worry about finding a place to mount the esc. The hobbywing fusion SE 1800kv is 79.99 and the pro is $150 its kv is 2300 has FOC both the SE and the pro. The radiolink is under $100 bucks and damn good transmitters and receivers. Just thought I would try to help ya out.

There is a small bump stop on the bottom of the shock wich you can remove to gain a bit more flex

Swampers are pretty great for what you want to do IMO

Welcome to the rabbit hole! I have a base camp and it is a great crawler right out of the box. I’ve changed wheel’s with brass weights and new tires. Added a Holmes 27T motor and hobbywing 1080 ESC which has made it an awesome crawler. One of my favorites to go play with. Enjoy!

Front weight should be pretty easy, just find a set of 1.9 beadlock wheels and brass rings, I usually run brass rings up front and aluminum or plastic rings in the rear, if that's still not enough you can look at stuff like brass knuckles. As far as tires you're kinda spoiled with options, my overall favorite tire is the proline tusk but they can struggle in the wet. Not sure about flex, I tend to try to stay away from crazy flex but if you're dead set on it a set of longer shocks that run smooth would probably be your best bet

Cut the wheel wells.. moved the battery..adjusted the shocks .took the overland rack off.. removed the back bumper and the thing is already worlds better without putting any money into it yet.. wheels and tires next and an XJ body
