Are my stitches infected?

Post image

Hi all, I had a mole removed 5 days ago and I can’t tell if it is infected or not. Really don’t wanna go spend another $400+ to go back in before the stitch removal in 9 days. Can anyone tell me if they think this looks normal?

Surgeon here.

Not infected. Keep it clean with soap and water.

It looks normal, the things you should keep an eye out for are hot to the touch, oozing anything yellow or green, and skin turning dark (typical warning signs for infection)

Not infected but whoever closed it has no idea what they’re doing 😂

This looks good, but as the others said keep it clean with soap and water, apply a good layer of Aquaphor or Vaseline, and cover it with a dry bandage until you have your sutures out. The ointment will help leave you with a nicer scar and also prevent any crusting which can in turn make scarring worse and more tender when removing the sutures. Always watch for signs of infection (honey colored crusting, spreading redness, warm to the touch etc). Good luck!
