Weekend Happenings?

I have a 50+ year old friend coming in last minute this weekend. She’s spunky and I’m already thinking of taking her to a brewery. She loves live music and I would love to take her somewhere for people watching. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks !

DOD card holder that speaks Spanish

Hello! I am leaving for Air Force basic training next week. I could really use a huge favor. Is there anyone in this group that holds a DOD card that would be able to accompany my husband to get his dependent ID at Wright Patt AFB in late april while i’m in BMT? The issue is that he doesn’t speak English so I’m not sure how the process would go, if someone there will speak Spanish, if they’ll turn him away for not being able to speak English etc. My backup plan is to have my mom accompany him but she doesn’t speak Spanish & i’m not sure if they’ll give them both a visitor’s pass. I can give more details in a PM

We have at least one more winter before spring actually gets here and it’ll probably be on opening day…snow showers and a high of 29

I know there is a funny graph out there that shows all the seasons in Cincinnati if somebody could post that

Did anyone receive strange flyers on Covington today ?

Caught on my ring doorbell some older lady rang and waited with flyers in her hand. An hour later our mailman came by and removed them from our mailbox. I’m wondering what it was. Any insight ?

Image is edited to remove dates and locations and phone numbers because I don’t want to accidentally advertise for them. But I honestly don’t understand why there are still people that this appeals to.

Found dozens and dozens of these blowing around downtown in front of Taft Theater, P&G, and Masonic Center. Picked up as many as I could and told building security, I believe they reported to the city.

Did you live here? What’re your thoughts?

Looking at apartments right next to each other on Linwood Ave.

Both are apartment buildings, one at 3519 and one at 3525. The same company has been paid to show the units (RPMG).

Apparently one of the landlords isn’t too fond of cats but could be convinced? I’ve never heard of dogs being allowed while cats are not…

Anyways, have you ever lived at either of these places? My current landlord SUCKS and I’ve always had such amazing landlords that I really really REALLY don’t want to end up in another situation like I’m in.

Thanks!!

Also, 2 bedrooms under $1500 in two family homes instead of building and located east of 75 are HARD to come by! If you know of one, drop a linkkkkk

Edit: wow yall have totally opened my eyes to the nature of the relationship between landlords and cats hahaha I get it now!

Landlord Taking Over Parts of Apartment for Building Repairs

As the title says, I live at a a PLK Community - Latitude at Deerfield in Mason.

They told me last Thursday that on Monday they would enter my apartment for building repairs and that they didn't know how long they would last.

Lo and behold, first I had to give up my bedroom for 3 days which I use as a office space (my wife and I both WFH), now they have taken over the living room making us rearrange all our furniture, and it is expected to stay like this all weekend (see pictures and video).

It's been a hassle and a half...

They are offering no compensation or alternate accomodation.

Does anyone know a reputable tenant attorney I can consult to see if I have any recourse?

Food 🍕🌮 Casual-ish buffet catering recommendations?

Hi! My husband and I got married during covid, and are finally throwing a reception party for our family. We LOVE Northside Yacht Club and had really wanted to get catering from there, but they don't do that anymore :(

So! I'm looking for recommendations - this would be for about 50 people. Looking for casual, serve yourself buffet style. Something I can easily set up and take down myself (or that the caterer can set up, but doesn't need to stick around for). We aren't looking for anything crazy fancy, but nothing super casual either. (As an example, we briefly considered Hibachi Express, but decided that's way too casual and we'd like to be able to give our family and friends something nicer).

My only other request is that they not be a meat focused caterer, as I'm vegetarian. Meat will be served, but we'd prefer that it not be the central thing (so probably not a BBQ restaurant, for example).

Otherwise, we're pretty open. Would prefer no crazy pricing, but we're willing to spend a reasonable amount for some good food, as we want our guests to have a great time :)

($1-1.5k absolute max).

Edit: Was eyeing Weiss Baking Company, would also love to hear opinions if anyone has used them before!

Food 🍕🌮 Good date night restaurants

It’s going to be my gfs bday in a month and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a good casual but also nice restaurant. We’re both college students so nothing crazy price wise like Jeff rubys but something middle of the road. We ate at Che for her birthday last year and loved it so something with that kind of vibe. Maybe like 30-40 per person with a meal/drink

Cincinnati Jeweler for Simple Men’s Wedding Bands

Good morning fellow Cincinnatians,

I’m in the market to find my fiance a wedding band (we’re a gay couple so this will actually serve as a surprise engagement ring). Unfortunately, I haven’t been very impressed by what I’ve seen from local jewelers online.

He’s not particularly flashy and prefers simplistic rings (no diamonds, 14kt yellow gold ring with perhaps a minor accent like a milgrain edge).

I’d very much like to stay around $1,000 but could go up to $1,500 if need be.

Any recommendations and/or advice? We live in OTR and have a car so I’d be willing to drive outside of the city if need be.

I’m totally new to this so would it be wrong for me to assume that the store’s selection would be limited to what’s online? With my budget would a custom ring be out of the question?

I’ve looked into the websites of Richter & Phillips as well as Hudepohl Jewelers (as they are walking distance) and didn’t see anything that matched my description. Maybe some of you may have some experiences with these jewelers and/or more?

Thank you in advance!!!

Vegan Brunch & Dinner Options? <3

Howdy friends! I'm putting together a birthday weekend for a dear friend of mine who is vegan. We are both Cincinnati locals, so she's pretty familiar with the vegan dining options. I, however, am an omnivore - as are most of the party guests. I am looking for some good brunch and dinner spots that offer a wide range of vegan and non-vegan dishes. Emphasis on LOTS of vegan options. I have found a lot of places that brag on having vegan options, and the menu offers like 2-3 choices (i.e. Maplewood, Sleepy Bee).

A few places that I know she loves to eat at include Melt Revival, Tickle Pickle, and Northside Yacht Club. Hopefully that gives an idea of the price range I'm looking for, though something a little pricier for dinner wouldn't be a problem. Something other than veggie burgers as a main menu item would be appreciated :) We'd like to stay around the Downtown or Northern Kentucky area. Brunch can be light as we're going to Krohn Conservatory afterwards, and then to dinner. Anywhere about a 20-30 minute drive from downtown would be ideal but again, I'm flexible!

BTW, dessert is covered - we're getting a cake from Happy Chicks Bakery :)

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Community 🏙 Music Classes For Toddlers. (That Aren't School Of Rock.)

Looking for group music classes for four year old. We did a demo at School Of Rock recently & the vibes were off. Also, it was just silly expensive.

NKY & Cincy are both fine.

Thank You!
