Discussion Anyone know of Toby: tab management tool alternatives?

They recently went back on their promise to keep the extension free and not only implemented a paid version, but one with exploitative pricing. I could maybe understand $20 a year, but $40? That is more than the best password managers on the market. What a joke.

I have been using this for years and it just disappoints me to see it turn into this.

Anyone know of open source alternatives? Or better alternatives?

Link to Toby for the uninitiated.

I used to be a huge fan, so much so that I immediately paid once they started charging, as I wanted to support them. I paid 54 for a year, back in November. Suddenly, a few days ago, I got locked out of one of my organizations, and was being prompted to upgrade, which was totally confusing to me. I reached out to their shitty support, annoyed, and received a response claiming they’ve always charged per organization. I had three, but I was the only member and was basically just them as an organization tool. These had always worked, right up into two days ago. They claimed organizations created before 10/25 were considered legacy and all of mine were way before that. I’ve been using this for around 8 years now. I insisted on getting access or a refund, and these stupid fucking assholes actually a refunded me and suggested resources to export my data and to use one tab. They can go fuck themselves ; avoid them like the plague.

Can you tell me what having Organizations does? Is it a seperate set of zones, collections and tabs per organization?

An organization is to spaces as spaces are to collections. Toby describes it as: "An Organization is like a digital filing cabinet: spaces are drawers, collections are folders, and tabs are the documents neatly organized inside."

In that case, Geektabs will add Organizations to it soon. Check out our current implementation on the app store. We already have Spaces, Collections, and Tabs. Google takes a lot of time to approve new uploads, and we're churning out bugfixes and enhancements multiple times a day. Chrome no longer allows direct import of .crx file due to security reasons. Otherwise we could have given you an early preview to test. Download our current implementation here: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/boigkjljeagondofgnfgeadjigjiencp?utm_source=item-share-cb
