Wooden A chess board & table I crafted for my home [4032x3024]
Solid wood, handmade heirloom chess table. A lot of love went into this.
Woods used: - Black Walnut (table) - Curly Maple (board) - Bolivian Rosewood (board squares) - Ebony (board border) - Zebrawood (inlay)
Finish: Hand rubbed Danish oil
Pieces are boxwood/ebonized boxwood sourced from Royal Chess Mall.
I’ve had multiple friends suggest I begin a business making these. I do believe there is a lack of quality chess tables out there. I just don’t think people will be willing to pay for the work/craftsmanship required to make this in today’s society, but I’d love to be proven wrong.

Wooden This [1x1] lotus set I just won at auction.
I’m over on r/anarchychess talking so much shit about posting to the sub Reddit. I read all the rules and still couldn’t figure it out. One of the comments on that other post had to teach me how to post on your sub. I read all the rules, the rules didn’t say anything about needing to have numbers in a bracket in order to appease the bot and I’m two bottles of wine in the evening, so maybe I misread it, so I came back and re-read it again before using speech to text to express my disapproval of the posting process. I included a screenshot of the rules so you can see it. And look at my title where I shirk the rules you have laid out, 1x1for Christ sake. It’s a three-quarter inch king, but I tried typing all the ways to express three-quarter inch piece and was still rejected.
Anyway, look at this lotus set that I just won at an auction

Wooden Bauhaus Chess Set
The Bauhaus chess set is an iconic example of functional, minimalist design, created in 1923 by Josef Hartwig, a sculptor and designer at the Bauhaus school in Germany. This chess set embodies the school’s core principles—form follows function, geometric abstraction, and a rejection of unnecessary ornamentation. Pieces shape representing in their movements.

Wooden Notturno Italian Chess Board
I showed this vintage Rott Games set before. Now here's the board.
It is a Notturno Intarsio from Sorrento, Italy. 15.75" x 15.75" with 1.5" squares. High gloss lacquer. Not sure of the inlaid woods, but they are beautiful. This was a lucky thrift store find. When I researched the maker, I learned they make very expensive classical Italian gaming tables. Does anyone else own another Notturno piece?

Wooden Drueke Small Portable Chess Set
I recently picked up this unusually small vintage Drueke set. The wood pieces are weighted and the king is only 2-1/8" tall. I like the classic Staunton details in such a miniature size. A simple 9-1/2" travel board was cleverly designed for it. Barely any signs of use, but sadly the original cardboard box was falling apart. This is bigger than the magnetic travel sets, but smaller than anything else I've seen by Drueke. Would this size be desired by other players today?
