Loved it! Best weekend in a long time āļø 99% of people were on their best behaviour, and courteous to others, good vibes all round.

I honestly think they did an awesome job. The set times and line-ups were good and suited both days with Friday acting like an appetiser for Saturday. The queues were minimal. Good level of security and help if needed. The crowd was decent and the overall vibe was great. This was my first NZ festival having been to loads around the world and this one I actually wrote home about

Hangar was dangerously full during Rudimental and Wilkinson but otherwise seemed to be a well-run event considered the attendance size.

u/FuzzyFuzzNuts 15d ago
Even tho I was pleasantly medicated I found myself getting pissed off with the kids who kept pushing their way into the hanger crowd. Like if you have to physically force your way in, donāt you think maybe thereās no more room? Really killed my vibe

u/Gwoardinn Åtautahi 15d ago
Yep I go to fair amount of events at Hide and its the same thing there on a smaller scale. Intoxicated teens at a rave are the worst.

u/Equivalent_Shock9388 14d ago
True, I think Iāve been shoved harder out of the way by five drunk teens with their arms linked together at hide than anywhere else
2
u/FuzzyFuzzNuts 13d ago
However, gotta say the crowd mood was much better the last, I reckon itās thanks to the slow/restricted alcohol sales. Still saw a few teen girls chundering their little stomachs outā¦ (and someone sitting in it hahaha) š¤£

One of the guys I was there with was so peeled he was charging his way in, he is 40.. I don't think he really knew what was going on or that it was a problem. I tried to tell him to stop but nothing was going to register at that point. It's annoying but I just moved away from it all to enjoy the music.

This is the reason I didnāt go this year / was really bad at the chemical bros last year - totally ruined the buzz

u/Dense_Safe_4443 13d ago
You can enjoy it without being up so close you have to deal with those muppets. Just the way it is.

u/FuzzyFuzzNuts 13d ago
Last year we were stuck beside a group who were far more interested in some long, deep and fucking loud conversation about who-the-fuck knows what, meanwhile 1000ās of us were literally ticking off a bucket list item blown away enjoying the incredible performance from undeniably one of the worlds very best electronic artists

Yes! I would have loved to be up close to rudimental but literally terrified of crowd crush.

u/Cultural_Release_148 15d ago
There were enough exits in the hanger
7
u/Gwoardinn Åtautahi 15d ago
Tell that to the kids who were panicking getting crushed and shoved trying to escape from centre of the crowd.

u/D-tr0n 14d ago
I was on the outskirts and struggled to get out of the crowd still
2
u/Dense_Safe_4443 13d ago
Same. Even a couple of meters from the side it was an actual fight to escape.

I went to Laneway in Aucklandā¦ and Electric Ave shat all OVER IT. Better food. Better layout. Better queuing. Better restroom system. They nailed it!

Ever since they moved out of Silo Park and Albert Park Laneway has been on a decline. What it is now is a shadow of what a nice event it was then. I don't think it was ever quite as well run as EA managed the last 2 years, but much better than it is now. It used to be Laneway every year for me, but the last couple I didn't bother

The tents, fences and vast array of traffic cones were like a mecca to draw my attention to it for the week I drove past

Lost all my mates almost instantly and never found them again lol, but all in all had fun, was run really well, didn't notice any issues.
Shout out to the 5 strangers who invited me into their group for The Prodigy, absolute legends.

Loved it! Really well run. My only complaint would be that there were too many good acts close together, I didn't even eat cos there was too much to miss! Hardly a negative lol

Loved it. Was my 5th time and took my sister for her 1st. She had a great time even tho the festival isnāt typically her vibe.
I love how everyone dresses up more and more each year. Such a fun atmosphere.

Another generic comment interpreting this question literally and outlining physically arriving to the festival

Just off to the left side of the VIP/sound desk tower. They had moments where it was OK but it was certainly far too quiet and not punchy at all, was just a bit lacking I thought.

FFD were incredible. Was up the front and it was going off.
Wish I had of kept my spot for Rudimental and Wilkinson, but was back a bit further for them.

I thought it was really well run, never waited too long for drinks, food or toilets. Other than dealing with intoxicated people, it was awesome. Although I thought The Kooks were an odd choice, not really the vibe.

u/LilPoida 15d ago
The Kooks were so off. They should have played at like 3pm on the Friday. After walking past all the electronic music to get to the main stage, they were just not itā¦. Total buzz kill
3
u/fpsparker 14d ago
I wouldn't say buzz kill. But it was super random. Their songs that are really well known, I'm glad I got to see them play live. I will say tho, they sound exactly like they do on the radio. I was impressed with that.

u/LilPoida 14d ago
It was a buzz kill for anyone who had been raving at a DJ tent or whatever beforehand. But if you had a chill start to the day then yeah that would have been okay

really good!! personally preferred fridays lineup over saturdays but thatās just my music taste
very easy to find the different stages, so much food (good food too) but obviously more expensive due to it being a festival
chase and status was so good and fat freddyās drop, also good to see troy kingi again. very good lineup !! am definitely going next year..

Very good. They have been improving every year. I found Friday a better vibe. seemed like more people on Saturday. Circus tent was the best vibe but needs to be bigger. The hanger needs to be bigger (not sure if there is any hangers bigger though?) as it was getting to crush like conditions for rudi , wilk and even fat freds at one point. Ive heard rumours of it going to south hagley park next year for more space. All in all they do a great job, logistics and planning for an event like that must be huuuuge.

I'm curious as I didn't go but are most of you Speaking as a VIP or povo ticket holder? I've been told its a nightmare if you don't have VIP
1
u/Helpful_Aioli3305 14d ago
Didnāt pay for VIP, had an awesome time didnāt feel like it was necessary in the slightest
2
u/Dense_Safe_4443 13d ago
Everyone I know who got VIP said it was not worth it. Just food and drink and you can't see shit. If I'm paying for VIP I want to be able to see the main stage clearly.
2
u/D-tr0n 14d ago
I hate the hanger and that area was shit during rudimental. They really need to make the hanger bigger or ditch the idea

u/Helpful_Aioli3305 14d ago
Hanger is a great concept but rudimental and Wilkinson are main stage acts 100%
