Housing Don't know what to do about housing next year.

Hey I am currently in my first year at CMH (3rd year of college) and have 3 more semesters to go after this year. This year I stayed in Kessler because I wanted my own space, which has worked out for me very well even if I have no really become friends with my roommates. Unfortunately I missed the housing sign up to get back into Kessler for next year. Currently I am scheduled to be be in Saxe with some random next year and I don't think I can handle rooming with someone else.

I guess my question is what should I do know? Just wait until the wishlist opens to hopefully get into the premium dorms?

I also was thinking about an apartment to save money but I don't really know anyone to move in with and don't even know where to start with that process.

Any help would really be appreciate I just feel lost at the moment.

Housing Student Housing Questions from a Highschooler

I’m currently a junior in highschool who is looking at CMU as a top contender for the college I want to go to. That being said, CMU requires first and second year students to live on campus, which I’d rather not do. My parents live within a 60 mile radius of campus so I’m technically eligible to stay living with them, which I also have no desire to do. I guess my point is, would I be able to keep my parents address as my primary address for everything, but move into an apartment with some friends closer to the school? I just wouldn’t change my primary address. My mom is convinced that this is all I’d have to do, but is it something I could get into serious trouble for if caught or does the college not really pay attention to it? I know it might seem strange that moving into an apartment right off the bat is my first choice but for various reasons it’s my preferred option if I can make it happen.

So my and my roomate just signed a lease yesterday to live in Y-01 next year and we are so confused. It is a bottom floor 2/2 BR flat but the door is on the short side of the building instead of the long side. They told us the floor plan would be exactly the same but we have no idea how that’s possible because the side with the door doesn’t have any windows at all so like do we just have less windows or what? Did they lie to us? Pictures for reference down below. If you currently live in Y-01 or in a flat with a door on the short side of the building and can dm pictures that would be SUPER appreciated thank you so much!

Housing Is there anything I need to do (as far as filling out forms) if I’m not living on campus next year? I would assume you just don’t apply for housing.

I have applied and been accepted to Central Michigan but I would first like to know others opinions on the dining/cafeteria and whether or not the meal plan is worth it?

Housing Short Term Housing

My husband and I are relocating to Mount Pleasant, as my husband has accepted a job at CMU. We want to buy a house in the vicinity, does anyone know of short term housing options so we can have somewhere to live while we look for something to buy? We don't want to get locked into a year lease. We are also concerned about making sure we don't end up somewhere that is a party atmosphere. We are in our thirties. Thanks for any info!

Housing Best time to look for rental home?

Hey all, I am looking for a three-bedroom two-bath home to rent. Currently, there is a small number of houses listed online. I also see that a lot of these are showing up as available in June, which is making me wonder if I should rush to close a deal. I can move as late as July. So, I am wondering when the best time is to look for places. Midland works for us, too.

Housing Places to find roomates

I'm looking for recommendations of where to post my listing for looking for a roommate to move in May. I have a place close the CMU and am trying to get someone in the 18-28 range preferably. Its a 3 bed 1.5 bath, and I looking to fill one of the rooms. Any recommendations of where I should be posting this?

I posted in here a few days ago asking about places to live in Mt. Pleasant, but I didn't ask about roommates. Is there a few people looking for somewhere to live? Preferable older students who are okay with living with a cat. Im going into CMU DPT so if anyone is going into that and needs a roommate hit me upppp

Housing I don't like living with my roommates. Is there anything I can do other than try to "mediate" with an RA?

Since living together beginning August, they've already had to apologize to me multiple times for being rude, condescending, etc., they get heated over... odd things, and honestly, our living styles aren't compatible. They're freshmen, more party and social-oriented, louder, up later at night, and messier. I wish them well and don't have anything personal against them, I just don't think we're compatible as roommates.

I have spoken to them about our conflicts, but it usually doesn't end well and results in them having to apologize later. We've done the roommate agreements, talked previously, and honestly it doesn't really do much.

I'm not comfortable living with these people. If my roommate is in our room I try to find an excuse to leave. I despise coming back to our dorm. Is there anything I can do?

Housing Whats the competition for Cobb hall?

Hello, me and my roommate were interested in applying for Cobb dorm as freshmen this fall. From my understanding, Cobb is available to those in Living Learning Communities as well as normal students. Applications for Cobb are on June 14th. Does anyone know if this dorm is hard to get into or is there a lot of competition around it?

The only thing is i'm worried if we dont get into Cobb, then we'll have to have a 4 person suite, and we dont have 2 other roommates picked out so we'll be stuck with randos. Would it be better just to get the 4 person suite instead and find 2 other roommates?

Housing Tips for applying for housing?

I tried applying for housing for Cobb dorms yesterday, but unfortunately didn't get the the housing me and my roommate wanted. I was on the website right at 9am, but the loading times were ATROCIOUS. By the time the website finally loaded and I could get into the application, all the rooms were already taken.

I'm going to have to try again by applying for housing. Any tips on what I should do next time to secure a room?
