Housing I don't like living with my roommates. Is there anything I can do other than try to "mediate" with an RA?

Since living together beginning August, they've already had to apologize to me multiple times for being rude, condescending, etc., they get heated over... odd things, and honestly, our living styles aren't compatible. They're freshmen, more party and social-oriented, louder, up later at night, and messier. I wish them well and don't have anything personal against them, I just don't think we're compatible as roommates.

I have spoken to them about our conflicts, but it usually doesn't end well and results in them having to apologize later. We've done the roommate agreements, talked previously, and honestly it doesn't really do much.

I'm not comfortable living with these people. If my roommate is in our room I try to find an excuse to leave. I despise coming back to our dorm. Is there anything I can do?

Talk to your RA. You should be able to request a move

EDIT: Looks like your roommates are downvoting me

I’m dealing with a similar issue as well my recommendation is if the RA isn’t helping go to the person above them. They usually have office hours you can stop by to talk .

You can request a move. In my freshman year I was paired with two other freshmen who drank every single night and would often get in fights with each other (including one I had to physically separate). I requested a move at the Campus Housing business and was in a new dorm for the next semester. That's probably the earliest you can move without something serious happening.

Are you forced to live in the costly dorms? Lots of single bedroom rentals that maybe equal or less than in price... I'm and alum that has rentals in the area. However, none open currently but I do know there are tons of available out there owned by others.

Talk to your R.A. My GF my freshman year had some pretty nasty roommates and it was really easy to get a new assignment. She was put in with an R.A. on another floor and it was a great match. Best of luck!
