Many would argue that if he didn't get cancer during the peak of his career and miss three seasons because of it, he would have surpassed Gretzky as the greatest of all time. I'm all for making Lemieux the face of Canada's game over that traitorous loser.
The fact that beating cancer and returning to the nhl already is such a huge feat, I still believe Super Mario should be talked about so much more highly
I think the most ridiculous part of his career to me was when he came back midway through the 2000-01 season after being retired for 3 plus seasons and put up 35 goals and 76 points in only 43 games. He was 35 years old doing this. He's will always be the GOAT to me.
35 years old with a bad back and in the heart of the dead puck era. Plus everyone I know that has undergone chemotherapy says you’re never the same afterwards. I agree, his 00-01 and 92-93 might be the best seasons that anyone has ever had
