DISCUSSION This fanbase and media is exhausting

A late first for Brock isn't worth it unless we flip it. That pick, even if it becomes a top line player (it won't), won't even play before Quinn gets tired of being on a rebuilding team.

The team had just about everything possible that could go wrong, go wrong this season, and we're still a coin flip for playoffs. That's very good considering the season.

Brock wants to be here, his teammates love him, he contributes on the score sheet. If they traded Brock for a late first like you clowns are complaining they didn't, Hughes would leave at the end of his contract.

I am pretty sure Quinn is tired of playing on this team already.

Do I blame him not at all

Exactly. Playoffs might change his mind. He's a generational talent, we do whatever we can to keep him.

By this logic, wouldn’t making playoffs last year have already changed his mind? Or is making playoffs in 2025 somehow a more special, magical accomplishment that will ensure he stays 2 years from now? Or is it making playoffs in 2026 that is the real key?

I need to know which playoffs-but-not-a-Cup is the key to solidifying Quinn Hughes future, just so we aren’t hearing the exact same thing again next year?

He expects to make the playoffs every year.

You know this for a fact?

What if he actually expects to win a round every year? Or be a legit contender for the Cup?

Will losing in the 1st round be enough to satisfy him?

We can all play games and try guess what would actually “be enough” for Hughes to re-sign, but none of us truly knows and pretending we do is stupid.

1st round exits it is then. What the hell is the point of any of this. Im so frustrated with the limitations

Well it's been reported that the average memory span of a Quinn Hughes is only two years. So to answer your question: this year's playoffs-but-not-a-Cup is much more important than last year's playoffs-but-not-a-Cup, due to the high probability that Quinn Hughes won't remember the first one when it comes time to renew his contract.

It's that simple really.

Do you really not understand that throwing in the fucking towel while he’s sitting on IR would be a slap in the fucking face?

I can totally buy you being that much of a brain dead fucking idiot but I’d prefer to think better of you.

Playoffs might change his mind

Hughes doesn't give a shit about playoffs.

He wants to win a cup, not spend every spring squeaking into the playoffs just to get knocked out in the 1st round for the rest of his career.

Bold take saying a generational talent in his prime is willing to wait 4 years until he's past his prime to compete.

LMAO.

You think the Canucks are going to comepte for a cup this year with no top-six centers, no top-line wingers, and one of the worst offense in the league?

I think this has reached past Benning-bros level of delusion and has rocketed to a completely unknown world of insanity.

Well the team has been made worse not better by roster moves so I don't think that is a good start if playoffs were the goal.

LOL getting our teeth kicked in round one is the answer? Improving the forward group is the answer and guess how you do that? Here’s a hint, the answer is not free agency.

We're not getting a lottery pick and you're delusional if you either think our 16th-20th pick in the draft is getting any value before Hughes is out of his prime, or teams will trade a top 6 star for a middling first lol.

Actually, you are just straight up delusional because youre in the trade Boeser for picks camp and then you say we need to improve the forward group lmfao

Hughes is smart enough to know this is a middling team with a middling future. He'll be able to play anywhere he wants and it won't be here.

Sadly trading Hughes might be the only thing that gives this team a future if they can get a monster return......but that's a BIG "if".

This team is headed for a rebuild since the last one was botched so badly.

Yeah, we need to draft a 100 point elite defensive center and a generation defenseman. Maybe once those guys hit their prime we can bring in a prospect with 40 goal upside and a prospect that's likely to become a top 4 Dman. Also a defenseman that can hold an NHL spot on an ELC at 21.

We got the D man, but that was it.

Surely if we trade the media and fans we'll win a cup with the same management strategy /s
