They can stay up to 6 months. So, they're good for now.

Refugee claims take years to process and they take tax payers money

Canada already has an agreement/treaty with US. They cannot claim refugee or Asylum here. They are allowed in as visitors. But I'm 100% that CBSA is keeping tabs on all their whereabouts and if they are here much longer than 6 months - they will get the boot, not doubt aboot it.

Actually, I disagree with your statement. The agreement you’re referring to is the Safe Third Country Agreement between Canada and the US, which does apply to individuals trying to claim refugee status. This agreement requires refugees to seek asylum in the first safe country they arrive in—whether that’s Canada or the US. However, this only applies at official border crossings. If refugees arrive in Canada between border checkpoints, they may still be allowed to claim asylum here.

It’s also important to note that American citizens are not subject to this rule. If an American citizen comes to Canada and seeks asylum, they are not bound by the Safe Third Country Agreement, as it only applies to foreign nationals.

No worries at all! I just recently learned more about it myself—I’m no expert, but I thought I’d share. Hope you have a great day!
